Very happy with the sound, warm with nice details from the multitrack. Obvs the music is great. They sound like they’re having a blast and the dark star is consistent in its greatness while being all over the place. I got this cheap but would be very happy to have spent a lot. I’m thankful (avoiding the pun).

I like it a lot, but I have to give the edge to the just issued Dave’s Picks 42, even though it’s on CD. Much more open soundstage and instrument separation. This one’s still a winner and a keeper and should be sought out if you don’t have it.

If your gonna buy this one do it soon. The vinyl came in the cardbaord liner w no plastic sleeves to keep it from rubbing. I already rpelaced mine after a cleaning and they all were fine. If these are stored in "Mint" condition on a shelf for a while they will definetely not be mint for long. I some of the mid 70's albums that came in the cardboard. They are very difficult to find wihtout some sort of nmoise

I have a few small complaints, but they pale in comparison to my praise for this show/box upon first listen! Wow! The band seems to be having fun while effortlessly playing all-time versions of some of their best songs. The recording, mastering, and pressing are all top notch.
Having heard this Dark Star before on Steppin' Out only seemed to increase my enjoyment since I have a bit of a mental roap to the spaced-out journey they laid before us. The Caution Jam will keep you shufflin' for a whole side of funky frenetic mayhem. Something about this show man, everyone must have been worn out at the end.
Even the box itself is beautiful while fitting perfectly next to the Paris '72 box. The paper sleeves had to be corrected, and there is distracting noise over one song. Luckily it's The Yellow Dog Story, which will keep me from seeking replacement vinyl.
I considered skipping this with the big Lyceum box coming this summer, but I'm so glad I didn't! This is what it's all about! -
Absolutely phenomenal pressing! Great dynamics and the mastering is perfect. Truly a cool experience to feel like you’re at a ‘72 Dead show. Box set is perfect other than no poly sleeves. Ultimately one of the best Dead live vinyl sets in my opinion. Get one while you can!

Sound is excellent, packaging is good except for the paper only inner sleeves. Mastering is outstanding
-
Similar to last year's Paris box, Optimal stupidly stored the discs in paper inners that have scuffed every single disc, many of them being audible scuffs. Once again, ruining several songs with repetitive clicking. Several of the discs looked like they were stored in a woodpile before I cleaned them off. Several dish warps too. As someone who owns many Dead box sets, this is a disappointing one. Great show though and great sonics, make no mistake there! Just hope Rhino stops working with Optimal, and if not, PLEASE just poly inners. These box sets are not cheap.
-
Outstanding release. Flat discs, dynamic mastering and a dead quiet black background. Highly recommend! I feel like this sounds even better than last year's release.
Edit: epic Dark Star>Sugar>Caution -
I have began the journey listening to this box set. So far the vinyl is excellent and the production sounds great. Sit back and crank this up . ✌🏼
