Ladies and gentlemen, please pick this up before it goes out of print. Cut by Kevin Grey and sounds absolutely brilliant! The price of the grey marble vinyl of this version has gone through the roof and this one soon will so pick it up when it is 30 something bucks! Just brilliant!
-
Edited one year agoFantastic record. Sounds absolutely amazingly. Reminds me of when I bought the CD on release day and listened it through over and over again. Lost opportunity to really make this a special item to own if they had done something nice with the sleeves rather than just plain plastic.
-
I can only echo everyone else - this is probably the fullest sounding record in my collection. Rich, deep, absolutely zero surface noise. There's nothing quite lilke a record with so much care put into it!
-
As others have mentioned previously, this is a great sounding release. Quiet pressing, even without cleaning it first. Not my absolute favorite REM album but they are all great. Glad to have this one on vinyl.

Edited one year agoGuaranteed to be one of the best-sounding records in your collection - a true hi-fi experience. Outstanding remaster by Kevin Gray. Widely regarded as the high-point of R.E.M’s career, this pressing delivers on all s. Just wish that Time Bomb would vanish off the album - it is so jarring to listen to after the lead track. The Charleston studio it was recorded in, sounds like shit.
-
Nothing short of magic. Kevin Gray never fails to live up to his reputation. Dead silent vinyl, with an incredible mastering job that brings out a stunning amount of detail in these recordings. An underrated album in the R.E.M. discography and a must-have for anyone who is a fan of the band. I would be really interested to compare Bob Ludwig’s original cut of the album to this reissue, as I don’t really see how vinyl can get much better than this.

Bittersweet Me (Memphis Soundcheck)
It is one of the best... One of the best rock of the end of the century.

This pressing sounds fantastic. I’m so pleased that we’re seeing some more quality pressings and coming out. I think anything with Kevin Gray’s name on it has a place in my collection.
-
Fantastic record. I hope R.E.M. will put out their IRS records with the same team doing the mastering that did this.
5 out 5 for sound on this record. The slower songs on the record really stand out. This shows the regular labels can do great sounding records also.
