This is an amazing sounding album. I have the QRP pressing before they starting pressing with their own plant Paramount Pressing. It's a really nice pressing and this is one of the best sounding albums I own in of clarity, detail, and sound stage. Gillian Welch and David Rawlings are really old school in how they record and put out music with everything completely analog going into these albums. It really shows in the end product which is just spectacular.

Currently available from the artist! Super cool that they repress them from time to time. -

Don't get this from Discogs - buy it directly from the Acony Records store. They have a UK and US store, both of them ship to the EU as well. (I got mine from the UK store.) It is still available since the latest repress.
As an owner of the Soul Journey vinly I was expecting nothing but a great release. And in reality, wow, the outer sleeve is just astonishing. Matte finish, heavy cardboard - this gatefold release looks and feels amazing. It will be a gem in my collection.
Sound-wise you definitely can tell this is a different mastering which is not surprising as it was sourced directly from the 30-ips master tapes (so yeah, it is an AAA release). I think it sounds amazing, the whole soundstage feels different on this release. It's nice to see artists these days who would go through a 100% analog process. -
I just received my copy of the recent repress from Acony’s online store. This is simply stunning. Musically, the songs and the beautiful acoustic arrangements are wonderful and consistent with other Gillian Welch releases.
My copy is flat and has a very quiet background after a wet clean. The album arrives in a paper sleeve that, while beautiful, made me nervous removing the vinyl to avoid scuffing. These releases are so well done I hope that they start using the rice sleeves to better protect the vinyl going forward. That said a beautiful pressing and another demo quality recording from Gillian and Dave. I could not recommend this more highly. -
What an amazing album this is. Don’t listen it to it too often but each time I’m so touched. Maybe only one lesser song. But how their voices work together, how their guitars work together. David being much more subtle than he is if you watch live clips (and he’s great in those). This is so good.

Stellar release and pressing. Sounds like they're playing a private concert in the room with you. The album artwork is also gorgeous. The cover art and quality of the materials are top notch.

An intimate concert in your listening room. Highly recommended. My copy has no issues and I got it on release day (or close).

The version I just received- which was new, sealed- has issues. Meaning the high end gets distorted at certain points- regardless of the volume I'm playing it at. Super disappointing, as otherwise this is a fantastic sounding album. I don't think it's an issue with my system, but I will try spinning on my local shop's super high end system before I totally lose my mind.
