Clean, flat and cool color. Sound? Meh. It’s a 12 inch orange CD. Nothing special, but it’s not bad. The problem with running a good needle (Soundsmith) is that you get to hear the flaws and this has plenty of em. All in all though it’s fun to turn up. Just don’t overpay and you can’t go wrong

To cut a long story short this sounds absolutely amazing which I wasn't expecting. What's even better is my local shop had it for sale at €11 so that's a no brainer. Another addition to the ever growing Green Day collection.

I love this album. It's probably Green Day's rawest, heaviest album, with some banger tracks. Only issue is that some of the songs do feel a little "same-ey" at times, and they do blend together a little bit if you arent actively listening. Overall, definitely an amazing album, and a wee bit underrated for how good it is.

Anyone know the reason for the different shade on the album cover? I have an Allied copy and the colors are a lot more muted than this. Maybe it depends on the pressing/printing plant?

Todo suena súper claro y nítido. Perfectamente equalizado y prensado, y ni hablar de la calidad de imagen de las tapas e insert.

Mil veces mejor hecho que las dos ediciones de Dookie que sacó La Nación.

I have just finished an exhaustive comparison with the https://discogs.librosgratis.biz/release/9433085-Green-Day-Insomniac US 2009 version as well as the original Canadian CD from 1995. Here is my opinion:

The surface is dead quiet and record is flat and centered.

The deadwax is much wider than Mr. Bellman's US version and the mastering is a little quieter too.

The sound is very similar to the CD although a little darker and somewhat less precise on the cymbals; these impressions are probably inherent to the difference in playback systems.

The midrange is fleshed out and the rendering is very lively and engaging. It appears as dynamic as the original CD.

I bought the US version following confirmation bias and I regret it because the copy I received is muffled, dark, lifeless, veiled, thick and compressed. Really disapointing.

I won't risk getting the 25th anniversary version to compare.

If you want to hear the "original" sound of the album (mastering of Mr. Ludwig) and you fancy your Green Day with a punk attitude and kicking ass and you absolutely want to own a version on vinyl, I highly recommend this European version.

I have just finished an exhaustive comparison with https://discogs.librosgratis.biz/release/3971383-Green-Day-Insomniac (2017 reissue, matrix runouts variant 2) as well as the original Canadian CD from 1995. Here is my opinion:

The surface is rather silent except for the space between the first four tracks of side A where you can hear a strange rubbing sound with each rotation. The record is flat and only side A is slightly off center without consequence.

All the tracks are at the same level with the exception of track B1 which strangely is somewhat quieter in dB?!? Let's say that's a bad start to this side.

The deadwax is much narrower than the European version though.

This version has a disastrous EQ: there is no clarity or sparkle at all, which leads to losing the hit of the cymbals. The low frequencies have been raised but we lose the bass transients, making it difficult to hear the individual notes. When switching to the CD, it's like I'm wearing ear plugs during vinyl playback. In direct comparison, I felt like the vinyl version sounded like an old AM radio lol.

I had gotten used to blindly buying Mr. Bellman's masterings but now I must it to being perplexed and enormously disappointed.

The European version is much more faithful to the CD (Mr. Ludwig did a very good job at the time) so it is more balanced, grungy and lively. It is also certainly more dynamic.

I won't risk getting the 25th anniversary version to compare but if you like your Green Day with a punk attitude and kicking ass and you absolutely want to own a version on vinyl, I highly recommend the European version.

There are days where this is my favorite Green Day album. This pressing is really good. Cut quieter to allow for more bass response and you won't hear more low end detail on any version of this record, including the original CD. I think people have issues with these 09 Green Day releases because they really focused on a balanced sound and the top end sparkle they are used to is gone. This is how I want this album to sound because I am not playing it through my car radio or tiny walkman headphones anymore.
