Prince Jammy – Big Showdown

I was just checking for the Jamaican JAH GUIDANCE label release (which I have physically at hand as a stunningly MINT looking vinyl copy in a NEAR MINT looking sleeve) but could not find it listed here on Discogs.
And yes, as acroyear23 states it has remained an obscure and long sought after dub rarity.
Really serious DUB collectors feel free to link up if interested.

Yeah, what a petty move, BUT you defo can buy an already once purchased copy here, no problem: Not a penny will go to the guys responsible for it. I personally wouldn't buy it from amazon or other sellers that probably restock from the folks responsible, those who are cashing out on it. Scientists legacy is untouchable anyway

beware: this release is *not* the same as the early Jah Guidance pressing (I have both to compare). I believe it's the same as the Greensleeves release but haven't checked.

the sleeve is a poorly printed disco jacket type with no spine & no green red & white border, though it accomodates a full size inner sleeve.
matrix info seems to be as per: Scientist vs. Prince Jammy - Big Showdown but it's so feint, that it's very difficult to read.

the labels on my copy are the same although red not blue.

sound quality is surprisingly good & the pressing is above average for a Jamaican pressing.

my jah guidance copy has titels and words in red colour on the labels, the sleeve is a bad copy with one centimeter wide white bar at the left side of the front sleeve and small white bar on top of the record..

Scientist is being written out of history.

Best dub album I've ever heard. Up there with the Thrilla in Manilla.

This is indeed an excellent reissue of another Scientist classic, as with all the Mirumir pressings of his work! The music sounds as great as ever, and it's nice to have the original artwork as opposed to the disrespectfully edited Greensleeves issues. Of course, this release only says Scientist on the front cover which is slightly altered from the originals, but Prince Jammy is fully present on the back cover and very much credited. An amazing dub album with an interesting history behind it, definitely the pressing to own!
