Reviews

Nick Drake's final album is a haunting mix of beauty and sadness. This time around, he's entirely solo, with no string arrangements and no additional musicians. Just Drake's voice, acoustic guitar, and piano on a couple of tracks. So it's a very sparse production. This pressing is acceptable to my ears, it's not pristine, there are a couple of faint pops on each side, but it sounds warm, organic and intimate, with a lot of detail to the vocals and impeccably dexterous guitar playing. Five stars and a sad face.

This is a risky one. My copy is terrible: many pops, much siblence, and the smallest spindle hole I've ever seen. Could barely pull the record off the platter. Should've returned it when I had the chance.
-
As another reviewer already stated, there can be a bit of sibilance on the higher frequencies throughout the album. Another aspect I'd like to point out is that is came out of the sealed package pretty dirty. Sounds full and radiant otherwise.
-
Anyone on here complaining of tics, pops or noises just has a flawed pressing. Mine sounds great, plays cleanly without issues, and sounds amazing.
-
Edited 2 years agoGreat packaging, my record kinda sounds like crap though. Some scuffs or imperfections right out of the package that create sibilance on the higher piano notes on Pink Moon and during Things Behind The Sun…my two favorite tracks. Bummer.

What an amazing pressing. Absolutely pristine. This is one of my best albums. Super clean and gorgeous. Sounds great. And the album artwork and sleeves are reproduces beautifully.
-
My copy has the same sleeve design and barcode, but the deadwax states 1745697 WG/NRP and A2/B3 for respective sides. I know WG/NRP is wes garland at nashville record productions, but is this version still AAA like the Sean Magee cut?

I'm glad to have this in my collection but, this pressing is barely able. It's a pretty quiet/mellow album so the surface noise is distracting for sure. I agree with others that the mastering is pretty good but I don't know if I would say it's amazing. The spindle hole is stupid small and the record came warped.
-
I'm not sure if such if this is the fault of my record distributed, the pressing company, or my handling, but this record is very dirty. There are marks all over the place, as well as slight scratches on several sections of the record. I've only played this once, and from my recollection, it wasn't horrible, but it wasn't very ideal for such a good album. I would skip.
