No idea what everyone is complaining about. My copy sounds bangin'. Have to crank it a little louder than others which increases the noise floor in between songs but I don't hear any surface noise when the songs are playing.
It comes in a plain paper sleeve so it had some debris on it so cleaned it and put it in a poly lined one ...but all good here.

Side A sounds pretty good, however side B is almost distorted and doesn't sound great, especially in Thick Skull for me (which is sad, because it's the best track from this in my opinion)

Edited one year agoScattered noise on my pressing, not too terrible but annoying on quiet moments like Liar.
The white and coral pink pressings are superior (but are not gatefolds), I’d say go for one of those -
Edited one year agoI have to agree with other reviewers. Very noisy pressing, specifically noticeable on vocals and snare. I will be purchasing another variant, likely the clear version.
A great album - just a very poor pressing. -
I’m not an audio person so take this with a grain of salt, but I own both this pressing and the target gold pressing, and can say that of those two specifically this one is far better. The target pressing had a low level of noise that played throughout the entire album, almost static-y. This one had almost zero noise, just a tiny bit that I could hear in the silence between songs and in the quieter parts of Liar. I don’t mind noises in records cause I feel that adds to their charm, but I know that’s really important for some, and wanted to add my two cents.

Sounds excellent! Very dynamic with very little crackles (only during the silent moments of songs). Only one pop on side A and none on side B. Must have gotten lucky seeing all these reviews. This is a true masterpiece and the color of the vinyl matches very well with the cover imo. 5/5 stars!

The noise on the intro of This Is Why is so loud it makes the entire track inaudible. So many pops, crackles and fuzz that it ruined the pressing for me. I purchased a coral variant online and not only is the quality better the actual volume, punch and clarity are better. Sad to say I'll be trading this in soon for something else at my local shop.
