Too bad a few negative reviews have driven the value of this release down. My vinyl is dead silent and the music is great. If you enjoy Garcia's solo work, buy this highly under-valued box set. The vinyl, the cardboard inners with poly-lined inserts and the box itself are all high quality.

am I missing something, but the Deluxe edition sold for nearly $90, while the standard reissue box was around $65...what's up with the value for the 180g Deluxe being the price of the standard?
-
No problems with noise on my copy thankfully. Worth the price of ission for the other worldly ‘Don’t Let Go’ alone.

Returned my “deluxe” edition which had a bunch of surface noise. Ordered regular edition, sounds great and good deal for $60.

I love Jerrys' (rough) vocals during this period. he shows that you don't need a trained or virtuosic voice to sing with heart and soul. A consummate musician.

Love this album, had the CD since it was released, JGB peak performances -- but was disappointed in the quality of the box. In addition to some damage to the box itself, nearly every side was crackly at the beginning, and like GaboWabo, Side H was crackly throughout. Also the records seemed a bit lightweight, did a quick weigh, scale showed around 165 g (?). I thought the sound was great, but disappointed in pressing quality, especially compared to the Grateful Dead vinyl reissues which I've found to be A+. Returned to Amazon, will likely order from a different vendor (Amazon's packaging was not good).

Edited 3 years agoReally, really nice packaging and overall solid experience. My 4th and 5th discs have a slight warp. Every one-sided LP with an etching I own from a Dead or Dead-related box set is bowl warped. Every. Single. One. Not sure who they're using to press these box sets but I wish they'd find somebody else and/or ditch the etchings for a bonus side of heady filler.
