Unfortunately my copy suffers from ticks and pops here and there. Even after a deep clean. Nothing too majorly distracting though.

Edited 2 years agoSo was this recording in analog or digital. If it was done in analog and there's a 2 track analog ... Wait a second multi track recording in analog mixed to digital ? They never made a 2 track analog mix... Hmmmm for 1993 that sounds about right................. FOR COMPACT DISCS ....

Edited 2 years agoEither GZ/4AD got their shit together or I got very lucky because I've had my copy almost two years now and still spin it. The record is nearly dead quiet save for the occasional small tick in one of the few very quiet spots on this record. The music itself sounds fine too, loud and punchy. It's not exactly the kind that would benefit from any sort of audiophile pressing in the first place.
I'll probably pick an first press at some point to make a comparison but in the mean time I'm perfectly happy with what I have. -
My copy sounds great. I’ve owned this album on many formats since it came out so I know how it’s supposed to sound, and I can honestly say this pressing does it justice. The negative reviews must have gotten one from a bad batch. I bought this new in May 2022 and it sounds as I hoped it would.

Don't agree with the negative comments on this one, was pleased with the sound of this especially compared to the P!ain issue that I had (and sold) - like many new records, will need a good cleaning

This is one of the most dogshit pressings I have ever heard. Seriously, 4AD, I hope you go under. You ought to be ashamed of putting out a product this terrible. You and companies like you are the only thing that sucks about collecting records. Namely, when you get an entity making them that has no qualms about not only erasing the value of vinyl by pressing shitty mp3s to wax but also failing to do even that properly, so the end product skips and clicks and fails, in every respect.
Completely unlistenable. The CD sounds way better. Fuck 4AD. -
If all the credits here are correct, this is not a remaster and the original cut was from a 16/44 source. I emailed Abbey Road (where the credited lacquer cutter now works) inquiring about this and they relayed this reply from Miles Showell: “Although I did cut [Pod and Last Splash]...this was in the early 1990s for the original vinyl releases. I did a lot of work for 4AD at that time. In those days they would almost certainly have supplied me with the American EQ’d Production Masters which would have been on the SONY 1630 (U-Matic cassette based) digital format. This had a resolution of 16 bits and a sampling rate of 44.1 kHz..."
