I agree it’s quiet. Not the best press. But no pops or crackles on my copy. Turn up the gain to 44bB and tweak the eq and it’s all good.

Edited 6 months agoI would avoid this pressing. Rarely buy records without checking these reviews first, but saw it in the SubPop store in Seattle airport and took a chance. Brand new and ultrasonic cleaned before playing. Quiet pressing with disappointing level of surface noise. Sounds like a shitty version of the CD release with more distortion and muddy sound. It’s not terrible, but if you’re picky (and this is a weird site to end up on if you’re not) skip this one.

Even putting aside the fact that you have to really crank this one: all that does is highlight that this is quite possibly one of the noisiest records I've bought in recent memory. Insane amount of crackle. Kind of obvious no care was put into releasing this album, just putting it out cheaply and quickly. Super disappointing release and maybe they'll do it some kind of justice when it hits 40 years.

I concur with the majority of the reviews here, it’s a bit too quiet, and jacking the volume up just tends to help hear the surface noise even more. It’s not a total shit pressing but leaves a lot to be desired considering it’s a “180g Audiophile” pressing. Sony could’ve done a far better job but here the quality is very average, nothing stellar here.

Pretty disappointed with this one. Lots of surface noise and distortion. Hoping a clean will fix it up but feeling like that’s a long shot.
Also, yes you really do need to crank this one to get an appropriate volume. But that’s not really a huge issue.
Overall, it’s not horrible and a perfectly valid way to experience the album. This could’ve been so much better though -
Digital files were sent to MPO and cut by Kr. if im not wrong the eu one with the sony music logo on the back was done the same way but cut by a different person. its a shame sony music didnt do better with this. at least get someone much more capable like kevin gray or RKS to cut a much better lacquer

Not the most dynamic version I ever heard of VS, it's quiet so there's a little more surface noise than most records. Other than that, a very enjoyable record. The balance is nice. Mine came pretty flat as well, no warping.

Super quiet pressing. I never have to turn my preamp ed 12 o’clock to crank it and I’m almost at 3 o’clock on my dial to get this to the volume I want. The lack of volume also contributes to above average sound on surface noise since I’m cranking it. Overall though it’s not a bad pressing, it just has a lower tolerance for being dirty. Keep it clean and it’s a solid pressing.
