referencing Cream Corn From The Socket Of Davis (12", 45 RPM, EP, Red Translucent, Special Pre-Release Edition) T&G 14
I bought this the day it arrived at the record store I worked at in 1985. It was red with green die cut, which I still own. At the time it was rumoured that the reason it was released in the die cut sleeve was because the original cover had a photo of Sammy Davis Jr with a corn on the cob sticking in his eye. Apparently Sammy Davis Jr and/or his estate did not approve. I don't know if this was true. But that was the story back then. -
Funny how this doesn't get listed among the rarities as much as some of the others. I don't think there are many more than 100 of them...that's the rumor at least. With so many variations, this one tends to get lost in the sauce, but it's not an easy score...

Any songs edited? Seems that many albums have songs that have been edited in length or missing altogether. Was really hyped for this reissue series…but not sure what Paul Leary was thinking.

Hype Sticker: Butthole Surfers 84-91: A Retrospective, Fully restored by JJ Golden with guidance from Paul Leary of the Butthole Surfers. PS If you are reading this comment then the answer is yes you should buy this you blind man.

I have a black translucent version in the green pre-release sleeve. But has the pink and white labels on the record

damn these four songs encapsulate so much of what the band was all about in their early days. it’s that sweet weird spot between rembrandt pussyhorse and locust abortion technician. this is def my favorite material they put out.

Pointless trivia: living here in Florida and being a DJ "moving to Florida" this was a hugely popular song for our radio show... And the line is "atomic Balm"... Which is a tiny little town about 3 mi from where I'm writing this... Whether Gibson drove by and saw the sign or picked it off a map...it's def a Balm, FL reference 🤯 classic 12" cover too!

Edited 2 years agoI have added 3 photos to this listing. I am yet to see a photo of the blue vinyl and think, perhaps, the green version may have been mistaken for a blue. It is certainly a greenish-blue under certain light. I may, however, be wrong, and a plainly blue coloured version does exist, but not yet photographed.

I never relized this was a misprint, my copy left off the title of comb, i just figured it was a butthole surferish kinda thing to do? as they did drawings for titles on hairway to steven. anyone have some info on how this misprint came about?
