Dookie is the third studio album by American punk rock band Green Day, released on February 1, 1994, through Reprise Records. It was the band's first collaboration with producer Rob Cavallo and its major record label debut. Dookie became a worldwide commercial success, peaking at No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 and charting in seven countries. The album helped propel Green Day, and even punk rock music into mainstream popularity. Dookie was certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America for the shipment of 10 million copies.
Dookie produced five hit singles for the band: "Longview", "When I Come Around", "Basket Case", a re-recorded version of "Welcome to Paradise" and the radio-only single "She". The album has garnered considerable acclaim, from its release to present day, winning a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album in 1995 and being ranked No. 193 on Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. As of 2014, Dookie is the band's best-selling album with more than 20 million copies sold worldwide.
Due to a legal copyright dispute with "Sesame Street", the popular TV-Series, about the display of the "Ernie" figurine on rear cover on first releases later releases were censored and the display of the figurine was cut out.

Edited 3 days agoPressing is fantastic, truly dead silent. I do not own another copy, so I will refrain from too much commentary. But my impression is of good clarity, separation and soundstage. It is bright though, likely in part due to the recording itself, but important to note for those sensitive to it. -

Anyone else have a copy where the center label has Side 1 track listings for both sides? Or do I have a rare misprint? -

Pretty sure this is the release I have, but I'm not sure, because the spine is brown/tan on both sides rather than grey. -
This is my first foray into Because Sound Matters and I have to say I'm impressed. The sound is punchy and then quiet when it needs to be. As for the artwork I think I like their style of a gatefold over Mofis single lps with puny cover art. Plus it fits in the slipcover better which Mofi obviously copied after dropping the big box from their One Step series.

Classic album and a good sounding pressing. Very quiet with no pops. -
Great version. Excellent bass and drums :) listening to my 94 CD and is not too bad either.. but the one step sounds awesome. -
Edited one month ago#549/3,000. I bought it bc I wanted to hear for myself the one step difference. I also have a $15 copy of Dookie. They sound the same. I only have a modest set up. Shiit Mani 2 preamp, fluance RT82 player with the stock ortofon OM10. Maybe I need to upgrade my set up before one step would be worth it. Eventually I will but for those with comparable intermediate systems maybe hold off and put the money towards upgrades for now.
