Enya – Shepherd Moons

I had thought that the Gaelic version of "Book of Days" sounded shorter and after all these years I checked and length is 2:34. The new version is 2:55 so therefore there is a mistake in the track listing.

A pristine digital transfer and an extra track. This album is the underappreciated sibling to Watermark. Coming from the same genetic pool but more subtle.

One of my favorite albums of all time. I used to listen to this well produced album with great songs every night before sleep. Haunting melodies and beautiful music permeate this wonderfully lush album. Dreamlike.

Some noticeably disruptive surface noise, especially towards the end of each side. Wouldn't be bad if it wasn't such a quiet album. Not the best pressing, but still happy to have it.

Enya's sublime "Shepherd Moons" is a continuation of the sonic template inaugurated by "Watermark". "Shepherd Moons" incorporates elements of world music and ethnic fusion, somewhat altering the formula established with "Watermark", which channelled pop by way of celtic and new age sounds. It is important to confirm that "Shepherd Moons" is not a mere facsimile of its predecessor, it has its own merits and qualities that more than distinguish it as a singularly great album. Continuity-wise, there is much to explore, and the calmness, fluidity and connectivity between each track is the real highlight of the album, allowing for repeat listens on a long-term basis. "Shepherd Moons" refines and deepens what was so beloved on her breakout album, capturing its elegance and expanding on its themes, albeit with an immeasurably more haunting mood.

Owing to the decreasing popularity of new age music, this album marked the end of Enya's mainstream commercial success, spawning several hits, one of which, "Caribbean Blue" is the album's most accessible track, serving as a wonderful entry point to the album's deeply sophisticated, majestic soundscapes. Perhaps the most cinematic, plaintive and solemn of Enya's work, "Shepherd Moons" deserves to be considered as a standalone classic album, not a lesser follow-up.

Certainly not up to the quality of Watermark, but still a solid release. Surface noise an issue. Optimal pressing plant in are getting worse by the day.

Great sound on this pressing. Play this on a cold winter day and you will definitely get warm

Great Music, Abysmal quality record

This pressing is absolutely terrible, I bought it brand new from amazon and the first one had so much surface noise that it killed the atmosphere of the music, and had a MASSIVE swoosh scratch on track 1 of side 1, so i returned it and got a replacement, and unfortunately, that pressing still had massive surface noise all throughout, and this time was a little warped.

Do yourself and Enya a favor and AVOID this pressing like the plague.

All the LP Re issues were printed in Canada but, the actual LP's was manufactured in the EU
