I have the first pressing (EU) with gatefold sleeve, printed inner sleeve and poster. The vinyl is fine; not amazing but no problems. It's kind of a low-fi recording. The poster is fantastic.

Excellent album. No problems at all with the quality of the vinyl or packaging. Came complete with poster and .

Excellent album, but crappy pressing... As my copy of Let England Shake (https://discogs.librosgratis.biz/PJ-Harvey-Let-England-Shake/release/2709851) is of great quality (very clear and precise), I was expecting quite the same for this album. Unfortunately, with this one the difference between the vinyl pressing and the digital version (spotify HQ) is overwhelming...

UK Vinyl 4774545. Came with poster and card.
While I love this album I wasn't expecting the vinyl version to be great after my copy of Let England Shake needed cleaning 4 times to get rid of the dust, paper and wood glue. Also some of the reviews had put me off and as i already have a digital version so was debating about wether it was worth getting on vinyl... then I saw it was £10.99 on black Friday from amazon and decided it was worth the risk!
Sound quality: (cleaned before playing) Very pleasantly surprised this pressing is very good, big soundscape and dynamic. No visible dust or scratches and played with very minimal surface noise. The album was recorded in a church hall community centre so it does have a certain direct low-fi aesthetic, I think some of the negative comments can be attributed more to this than any issues with the vinyl pressing.
Packaging: Matt card gatefold, OK... not to keen on the cover image, although works better at the bigger size. photo in the gatefold is good though.
Music: Excellent, its amazing that someone who has been making music for +25 years has managed to maintain such a high standard of work. A true artist. -
I just like this album a lot.
Yeah it's in a flimsy cover and people are critical of the quality of the pressing but to me, this is simply inherently 'lo-fi' (think a less extreme Sparklehorse) which gives it a dynamic for listening to that it would just leave you thinking 'what's missing here?'
Sibilance..? Maybe but it doesn't kill it for me either... sometimes, over-cleaning and filtering kill everything..!
Overall, this is a great album, has great production to my own mind and it's a keeper.
Oh and yeah... I have the poster and the (mp3) .

I cannot imagine how anyone can be really satisfied with the pressing qualityof this record . If you intend to rip this album at 24/96 on good equipment make sure you have plenty of time for post processing because you need it ....it's a mess.
Pretty sad since it is a good album ....One think you can be 100% sure when purchasing PJ Albums ...she does always good stuff -
My copy (purchased from HMV yesterday) came with a card. Upon redemption was presented with the choice of 320kbps MP3 or 16/44.1k WAV files.

Edited 9 years agoGot it trough a german mailorder the day of its release - no sticker, no card, extreme thin gatefold cover but with poster. Still basically the cheapest deal GZ-Media produces, so I guess someone at Island Records fu**ed up.
Very sad, the album is great! -
