Sounds good to me. Sounds like the other ones remastered by Golden and pressed by GZ, which are all good. Clear clean sound. Good stereo separation, spacious sound stage, dynamic with little compression.

Have to agree that this is a poor remaster. Sounds digital and thin. Lacks power, oomph, and bass, and the frequencies sound muddled. Haven't compared to an original press, but the CD sounds better in almost every aspect. Disappointing to say the least. At least the packaging is pretty great and it didn't break the bank, but still lacklustre, even if noise-free. Should have heeded the other commenter's advice about the US press.

Edited 3 years agoExcellent repress, inside and out! The gatefold artwork is perfect, that is, authentic looking, nothing looks like a scan. Sound quality is great... virtually noise-free, dynamic, rich. Platters appear perfectly flat, on center. Comes with nice poly-lined inner sleeves, corner cut, too, so removing the LPs from the gatefold jacket is easy.

Disappointing edition.
Compared to the original release, this one is quite unpleasing. First, the packaging is a pain in the bum for getting the records/inserts in and out. The fact it includes two 180g records + inserts instead of the regular printed inner sleeves makes me cringe everytime I want to pull the discs in or out.
Quality wise now, well... not impressed at all. It sounds very similar to the CD. Probably sourced from the same master. There's a digital glitch on one of the songs which is horrible and sounds like a typical DAT glitch to me. Record themselves are "ok" pressed I guess besides some clicks and pops here and there.
Anyway, I recommand any buyer to get the US release which is probably better in every aspect I've reviewed here. The SY American editions are stamped with a "Remastered from the original analog master tapes" sticker and I can tell you this is no BS. After a direct comparison between the EU and US rereleases of Goo, the US remaster stands out by far.
Don't get me wrong though. This is not an awful version but if you can get a better one for the same price, I'd rather let you know about that. -
Sound and geatefold is great! Also the two printed sheets look very nice, definitely worth the price

Good Reissue. Thick gatefold packaging.
Can't tell if the masters are the same as '95 press, anyway the records are flat and quite silent. Just some acceptable clicks and pops on "The Diamond Sea" side. -
Agreed - it sounds great to me. I've never heard the original pressing (I've only ever owned Washing Machine on CD), so can't comment on how it compares to the '95 pressing, but this sounds really good to me.
