Notes
Released in mono on 180-gram vinyl LPs, newly mastered from the original analogue master tapes and with replicated artwork and packaging. Also included a pamphlet with track listing, album credits, details on the cutting process, and an ment for the Cirque du Soleil LOVE show in Las Vegas.
Due to deterioration over time, an analogue tape copy was made of the original analogue master tape to cut the album from, as detailed in the included pamphlet:
"Working with the master tapes of Please Please Me was challenging, because adhesive used to make the original edits had seeped onto adjacent layers of recording tape. When the master was played, layers of glue and oxide accumulated on the tape machine playback head causing a loss of higher frequencies in the music. Cutting a record is a continuous process so it was not possible to stop in order to clean the tape head. There was also a significant risk of damaging the master tape during playback so it was decided to transfer music tracks individually to create a new analogue cutting master for this release on vinyl."

I spent 100 bucks on this and its worth the money a nice clean pressing and sounds perfect very spacious for a mono mix and especially for a 60s record it sounds perfect

Please Please Me in all it's glory. This is the copy you want. It sounds just like the fab 4 are playing a concert in your living room..

You can hear the raw energy of the Beatles with this first project. This mono pressing is beautifully silent and perfectly balanced. I only wish I bought another to keep sealed looking at this crazy prices (since I paid about $20cad)

Edited 7 months agoThis mono presentation is so glorious, it made me re-evaluate The Beatles output --Please Please Me (in Mono) might be my favorite Beatles album! This pressing is that good. Energy, punch & a living sound stage. Luckily I picked this up for $23 at my local drugstore when it was released....

Agree with all the other comments but can anybody tell me what cirque du soleil have to do with these albums?

I almost bought this record back in about 2016-7. I went to Barnes and Noble and bought my first record. They had a stereo copy and a mono copy. Mono was $1 more than the stereo. So in my young mind I had no idea that mono was the best way to hear this. And I didn't see the reason of paying $1 more for mono when I was always told Stereo was better. I still loved playing my stereo copy and I wore it out so it doesn't even play without skips on almost every track. If I had gotten the mono it wouldn't have been worth much in that condition anyways.

Edited one month agoAbsolutely the best I’ve ever heard this album sound! Such a naturally Real sounding mix! Highlights for me were the opening track, Twist and Shout and Especially Boys! Ringo’s drums kick ass. “Please Please Me” finally sounds right! But every song sounds great. I love my ‘76 stereo UK press equally but… this sounds more like you’re in the studio with them. Fantastic!

Listening to this right now. I dont really listen to is too often on vinyl since I also have this version in the cd box set. But ..on the occasion that I do have time to crank it and actually enjoy listening to it...with no distraction...it is just so fantastic. What can I say other than amazing. The vocals are full of energy ...the bass guitar is accurate and not bloated...the guitars are crisp and well placed. The vinyl is flat and quiet. One thing..it is not a very "loud" record. So you have to turn up the volume...which IMO is a good thing. The only thing I wish I had done..instead of getting these separate...would have been to get the box set...oh well.
