- First releases easily recognizable by the (later withdrawn) ment for other "Vee Jay" records on back-cover:
- The Beatles - Introducing The Beatles (Mono Versions)
- The Beatles - Introducing The Beatles (Stereo Versions)
For the US releases, here's a guide to distinguish genuine releases from counterfeits:
(The US variations submitted so far can be found here)
Deadsure Method:
☞ If title and artist are separated on the label by the spindle hole, it's a counterfeit.
☞ If it is stereo and has ''Love Me Do'' on the back cover, it's most likely a counterfeit. (See additional "HONEY" test below.)
☞ If ''stereo'' appears only on the cover and not on the label, it's a counterfeit.
☞ If the record claims to be in stereo, but plays mono, it's a counterfeit.
☞ If the label is all black/silver and has a large brackets logo, it's a counterfeit.
☞ The runout etching on almost all genuine copies should contain at least one of the following:
''Audio Matrix''
''MR'' in a circle
''ARP'' in italics
***************************************
Easy Method By Cover:
☞ If George casts no shadow, it's a counterfeit.
☞ If the background contains no gradient and the colors seem off, it's a counterfeit.
☞ If the cover has a brown border, it's a counterfeit.
☞ If the front cover does not wrap around completely underneath the back cover slick, it's a counterfeit.
☞ If the back cover print is blurry in whatever way, it's a counterfeit.
☞ If printer marks (colored dots) are visible on the top of the back cover, it's a counterfeit.
☞ If the ''H'' and/or "E" of ''Honey'' in "A TASTE OF HONEY" on the back cover shows a printing deficit, it's a counterfeit.
*******************************************************
Easy Method By Label:
☞ If title and artist are separated on the label by the spindle hole, it's a counterfeit.
☞ If the label has a flat textured rainbow/colorband design, it's a counterfeit.
☞ If the dead wax after the last track is wider than an inch, it's a counterfeit
☞ If the label is all black and on glossy paper, it's a counterfeit.
☞ Any significant loss of color in the rainbow on the label (especially green) indicates a counterfeit.
There are 37 variations of the genuine pressing (including both mono and stereo) known.

referencing Please Please Me (LP, Album, Mono, Gold & Black Label, Northern Songs Credit, 2nd pressing) PMC 1202
They are 1N-1N right up to at least the 5th label version so they should all sound the same. Still glad to own one. -
I’m assuming this is the same as the 1973 version. Same matrix in the deadwax and I can hear that this is definitely true stereo. It sounds incredible. I also have a mint MFSL stereo pressing that I may put just behind this, though the Japanese vinyl that was used for that pressing is quieter. I prefer my 2014 mono most of all, but for stereo, this is the best I’ve heard.

referencing Please Please Me (LP, Album, Mono, Gold & Black Label, Northern Songs Credit, 2nd pressing) PMC 1202
My grandad just gifted me his copy of please please me, he said it was one of the first versions and I was absolutely astounded to found it was this copy with the northern soul credits. But I’m wondering how rare is this? Is the dick James credited one rarer? -

I spent 100 bucks on this and its worth the money a nice clean pressing and sounds perfect very spacious for a mono mix and especially for a 60s record it sounds perfect
-
i bought one of these counterfeits. it has a slip cover over a cardboard insert that was from another album. the pictures were not printed on a blank album cover. kind of odd. does anyone else have one with a slip cover. this album has never been played.

Sounds actually amazing. Really clear and crisp sounding record. Difinitely buy if you come across this one!

Edited one month agoThis CD version is one of the highlights of the 2009 remastering project. It is one of the cleanest sounding and most detailed versions of this classic album. It has a warm, live feel to it with the vocals sounding full and naturalistic although it lacks the punch and sparkle of a good clean UK vinyl version. The overall impression to my ears is that the album is much closer to the Live at the BBC recordings from the 1990s with some of the vocal harshness in some vinyl versions rolled off. Individual vocal contributions, especially in harmonies, stand out more and, for someone like myself who has listened to the stereo version of the LP for decades, there are new little details here and there that pop out and make this a version worth returning to. One of the strengths of the 2009 releases was the well put together packaging, and its no exception here. The digipack includes a gorgeously reproduced album cover with additional photographs, and an accompanying booklet which delves deeper into the recording of the album. If you want a cheap, clean and respectfully produced version of the original stereo mix this is a very good option.

This is proof that digital remasters don't always mean inferior sound. This record sounds powerful as hell, and with the except somewhat of the title track, every track sounds dynamic and loud as it needs to be. These pressings are much easier to find than other mono pressings, and with the quality abound here, it's definitely not a bad option in the slightest
