ok, tarantula is not rides opus magnum, but it is not a bad one, i like it a lot. i discovered rides music just one year aho with buying the 5 cd box with their first albums and did not read about it, just listening to it. there are good songs on it, i think they wanted to get on the britpop train with this without losing their identity, it is worth a re-listening. beside that, i saw them live last week and they are a fantastic live band, they know how to explode and rock it at times, their drummer is a beast. very recommended as a live band!

Edited one year agoSo bad it was deleted from the Creation label catalogue a week after release
On purchasing this at the time - it was a huge disappointment. Black nite crash was good. The rest was guff. All felt a bit flat/ bland… Maybe time I gave it a second chance -
Sounds like the LP repress has been cocked up somewhere along the line. I've just had a notification from Rough Trade that the orange vinyl has been mispressed on standard black vinyl.

I threw this on after not listening to it for over 20 years. There are some great moments and reminders that they could have been as big as Oasis if they had stuck at it. Saw them live earlier this year and they are still massive live. Didn’t play anything from this however…
