I have been looking for a long time for this record, since this is the first recordI can recall playing.
I wasnot dissapointed when I Had the first listen. It had the exact same "transistor" sound with too much treble and too little bass - just as I it for. This is by no means a "wow blast of a sound" but for me its authentic. -
Edited 20 years agoA good starting point, a collection of their biggest hits, but to me these hits represent the most over-played and least special aspect of their amazing output. Don't get me wrong, these are all great songs, but if you've ever been near a radio, you've probably heard most of these and they've all been played to death. You need to hear the individual albums these were culled from to really find the under-recognized masterpieces that were too "deep" or "risque" for scaredy-cat radio programmers to mess with. Songs like "So Long Frank Lloyd Wright", "The Only Living Boy In New York", "Fakin' It", "Patterns", "Cloudy", "Flowers Never Bend With The Rainfall", "Save The Life Of My Child", which is one of the first Pop Songs to actually incorporate ("sample") one of their own privious songs into a newer one. The list goes on. A good introduction to these amazing songsmiths, but if you're jaded and leery of overplayed pop music, dig into their individual albums.
