What an absolute pleasure it is to finally own a copy of this one. The pressing is flat and quiet. The source recordings are pretty good. Crank it up.

Edited 24 days agoAbsolutely fantastic, what a selection of live performances, sounds amazing, this is my fave RSD of 2025 I’ve listened to

So weird. I've had every single damed thing Verve put out for the longest time, and never even had an inkling this existed until this year. Well, I have it now, and am glad the flippers appear to have slept on this, as it's easy enough to get hold of, unlike other similar RSD releases available in identical numbers.

Edited 28 days agoOk had a chance to compare this to my original pressing.
Firstly---the original pressing sounds very much like a 'bootleg' even though it's not, so this was never meant to be some nitpicky audiophile BS-----these songs are MASSIVE and this is the sound of a band playing in their absolute prime, on top of their game. Early Verve had a groove like no other and a sense of atmosphere few could ever touch---a shame that everything they did after "A Northern Soul" had largely lost that idea. The original pressing is so much fun to listen to and i'm glad i have it, a sonic adventure even through all the and pressurization of a live recording.
So how does the reissue compare? Well it's pretty solid. The artwork is pretty much a 1:1 match even though the contrast and colours are everso slightly different, however shows Universal/Virgin written on the back (which is annoying lol)---and the center label sticker on the vinyl has a tracklisting in addition to the same fonts and label overall. The guitars sound slightly less weighted and have a bit more distortion associated to them, and the vocal seem a touch higher? But overall it's 95% similar with the finest details only measurable when you play them directly back to back. Overall a really good reissue for anyone who wanted this record for years!! Don't hesitate to buy and blast out yer speakers! -
Never been exposed to it before it’s brilliant. One way to go like listening to it for first time again with the goosebumps.

Super happy to own a legit copy of this great record. If RSD released more things like this, and less Charlie Brown picture discs, it might get some credibility back.

For what is essentially a glorified bootleg, sound quality is quite good. Super basic packaging, cheap sleeve. At least it came with a black antistatic inner sleeve. My copy has a spindle hole that is way too small. Overpriced for an EP length record. But an enjoyable listen if you can get past the weird samples.

Edited one month agoExtra-ordinary! My pressing is really good - not excellent - but that's ok as live album. I can only imagine what it would have been like to see this tour in a good sounding venue.

I looked at the 2025 RSD list twice, and for some reason, I missed this in the original listings. I was more excited by the Gil Scott-Heron release. A buddy sent me a photo after scoring his copy on RSD, and I was shocked it was released AND that I overlooked it. I wasn't able to get to my local shop until nearly closing time, but amazingly, they still had three copies (and one copy of the Gil Scott-Heron album)!
Super stoked, as, like many, I have survived on a CD burned from an OG LP. To score a copy and finally have it on record made my day!
Now, regarding the sound... it is quiet, and the wax is flat, but to my ears, the highs are a bit harsh and overall it doesn't sound as dynamic as I hoped. Before anybody asks what I am playing it on: Thorens TD 160 with a 2M Bronze cartridge. All of that said, it doesn't sound bad, just not as excellent as some have said. -
