What do we know about why there are two separate RSD25 listings for this? Is the Jolly Roger repress a European press? Can anyone attest to quality differences?

@glen_penn I've got a blue AND a black (the black where they ran out of blue and the blue and transulcent is still mixed in). People thought it was a boot leg, but it was never bootlegged. They ran out of blue after 700 copies, there were 700 blue and 300 black. Of those 1000 originals, 300 sank with a ship bound to the US and so they are only really 700 out of there.

Since when is this considered "unofficial"? I'm pretty sure this release was sanctioned by the band regardless of what label it appears on.

I have a Blue transparent which is def orig and not a bootleg. I had all band sign my copy, & I would think they wouldn't touch it if it was a boot.
The other reason I feel it is not a boot, is because there was a track off of it featured on the CD compilation series Volume out of the UK. They were known for getting exclusive tracks / live tracks / remixes for each article written. Why would the band permit a track off a bootleg to appear on a reputable UK publication is beyond me. This edition at least, should surely be reinstated as a sellable item on Discogs.

Some of the info above is incorrect. Over 400 copies were damaged by heat in an LA warehouse. About 600 were either sold or given out by the label. Only the blue vinyl versions are "official". The black vinyl copies are bootlegs. This was label sanctioned. Because of this it should be an "official" release. My record shop sold 275 copies of this LP as Verve were HUGE in my shop. This means there should be plenty in the Detroit area. I never see it in the wild here. Glad I have my copy Vernon Yard sent me.

Have an original blue vinyl version of this. It is one of my favorite items in my collection. Truly a legendary piece of vinyl

It’s been 8 years since my first post on this just want to add more info. So if you look at the back of the original copy blue version the Jolly Roger logo will be about 1/2cm inside the sleeve if you have the black copy which I believe was not official the Jolly Roger logo will be tight against the side makes sense if you have both copies. Over the years I bought and sold around 5 copies can check my sales history and always the same about the logo. You can tell the original was not a bootleg because the back has the thumb print on which is the microdot logo the company that did all the verve and oasis art record sleeves and I had an email direct from Brian Cannon confirming this. Hope this info helps and if not sure on black and blue version if record still sealed this info may be of use.

A friend of mine had this record and with his came a sheet of paper promoting the then new label Vernon Yard. Wouldn't this have favored somewhat in the records authenticity of release? I don't know if the entire press came with these or any more details.

Artwork info on voyager 1. Just found out today that the artwork was done by Brian Cannon the founder of mircrodot also produced loads of the early verve oasis and more artwork. From the green posters in lucky man check out his site if a fan it's a must see for fans.
