The album that is generally accepted as the first in the 'Gangsta-rap' genre. Dr. Dre, Ice cube, Eazy E, MC Ren and DJ Yella set a new standard in 1988.
Every track sounds pumped up, well produced (for that time), violent and laid back at the same time.
The lyrics glorify the gang-life in the streets of Compton. In every track you can already hear the great rap-talent of every member, Ice Cube and Dre in particular.
There's a lot of profanity in the tracks, but that's how the street language already was back in the 80's. If you're into hip hop (even only a little bit), this is a must-listen.
Personal highlights of the album are 'Straight Outta Compton', 'Fuck the Police', 'Gangsta Gangsta' and 'Dopeman'.
