Bought it 2 days ago, side A B sound fantastic, but I'm having trouble with side C and D, pretty much skips first 2 songs to the point you can hear like 70% of the song and that's it.

My playing device is all good, I'm having no problem playing my other records, so either it's a bad pressing, or I'm just unlucky.

    Overall 9/10

*Edit: Noticed several small nicks on Side C (Serial Thrilla) that cause it to skip a few seconds, so yea, I'm just unlucky, but overall great sound

      Crazy pressing right here!

Records are cut wide & loud and sound marvelous with great dynamics; bass reproduction in particular is nuts here. Very low surface noise as well, no quiet ticks even during extended quieter ages. Only real issue with my copy pressing-wise is a tiny bit of non-fill on Side D, which makes some very short crackle during the build-ups halfway through Climbatize - I'm sure this isn't universal to all copies though.

Like Atodaso mentioned, record 2 is noticeably cut a few dBs quieter, but as long as you adjust the volume between 'em that's no issue at all.

Physical presentation is stellar as well; sleeve has a very spacious opening and the inner sleeves are made of much sturdier cardboard compared to the other two first pressings of the album.

Can't speak for the reissues, but I can almost certainly say this is the pressing to get - improving on perfection ain't easy.

One of the best sounding records you can own, of an album that needs no introduction. This original pressing kicks ASS. Loud, pummeling and aggressive like the album itself you will hear these songs live you’ve never heard them before.

Oh boy, I still that day back in 1997 when my neighbor brought a cassette tape of this album. It was a life changing experience to say the least and beginning of my love to all the breakbeat/jungle/dnb music up to this day!! Big up to all massive!!

now that i own this original pressing - despite having pleasure listening to one and only correct versions of funky shit and serial thrilla and narayan - i am a little disappointed by loss of high frequencies towards the center of all discs

Not a patch on their first 2 albums. Yes, it has the great singles Firestarter and Breathe, but it also has a lot of rubbish tracks that hugely outstay their welcome.

A/B is recorded ~2-3db higher than C/D. Interesting. Sounds amazing. I have not heard any other vinyl versions of this, but I can say without a doubt that this is the cleanest and punchiest version I have ever heard. The first disc is pressed like a 45rpm - 2-tracks per side, with LOTS of groove space. Second disc is squished down a tad, but sounds equally great, quality-wise. Just adjust your phono preamp gain a bit, and it's the same as the first disc.

Shot in the dark but if anyone is willing to part with JUST the first record(A/B)than please let me know. I got a copy of this for free today and was so excited I didn’t notice the first disc was missing lol.
