NOTE: Track "Narayan" is actually 7:03 long and it merged with the beats track "Firedrill" (2:03) (originally called just "Beats" and later "Edward") that is not listed - and "Firedrill" was intended not as "Narayan" outro, but as an intro to "Firestarter" (it used this way on the vinyl release - i.e. "The Fat Of The Land").

Climbatize epitomizes the big beat late 90's sound like few other tracks. It transports me back and breathes and smells like 90's so much it hurts. A fucking insane choon that rounds out one of the best big beat albums of all times.

Edited 17 years agowho can mix rock, pop, techno, punk, dance, mantras, guitars, rave, acid, indian voices and a supermagnetic frontman like keith? The Prodigy. Smack my bitch must be the best track in this album for dancers, firestarter for rockers, breathe for ravers and serial thrilla for punks. They make history, Liam make the sound of the ninetties dude. Like I said, best fking album of history!!

”What such a bullet-headed ten-track collection proves is, for once, startlingly clear. Having set out to create a record that plays firmly to their strengths (in a word, touring), the Prod have tailored their brutalist sound and deeply tongue-in-cheek cyber-vision to a point where it serves as an aural foil to the mind-boggling overload of their live show. There’s barely a second goes by amidst the hailstorm of Wu-Tang-esque martial arts samples, droning synths and Gizz’s kamikaze guitar breaks on ’The Fat Of The Land’ when you’re not picturing Leeroy hot-stepping away at his epileptic-on-an-ice rink anti-dancing, Keith bug-eyed and shivering like a (strontium) dog who’s just clambered out of the local duck pond, or Maxim foaming at the mouth and inciting us to, well, smell the glove.”
-
quite a change in sound on Liam's behalf on this record. Maxim and Keith have become more involved and their vocal contributions make this album that much better. Fat of the Land has a more hardcore/industrial sound to it than older Prodigy, but is still a staple for any collection, prodigy fan or not.
