absolutely agree, this is special. very detailed and as others have said very layered. if you can, grab this one. i’ve been listening to it through the 990 pro headphones and you really do hear everything.

This is a truly special pressing. I’ve heard several other MoFi Beatles pressing and own Abby Road, which I love and is great, but this is simply in a different stratosphere! One of the most detailed and best layered soundstages I’ve ever heard. I’ve heard more masters of this album than I can countless times and I’m discovering new details every time through this one. It’s also one of blackest background I’ve put on my table. Aside from all of the hifi stuff, it’s just, plain enthralling to listen to!! This is the pinnacle of this hobby: getting completely lost in the music!!! I’d give it six stars if I could!

I first listened to this without anything to compare it to, and while I really liked it, I was somewhat worried that an original would have a richer midrange and be an overall more enjoyable experience to listen to (fearing the notorious smiley-face EQ that MOFI was famous for). Having now AB'd against an original US press, there's no contest - the MOFI smokes it. The Beatles reportedly fought with EMI about the lack of bass on their albums, wanting their music to more closely resemble the sonic profile of the American R&B they loved so much. I'm happy to report that this pressing answers that call, with some of the meatiest bass I've ever encountered on a Beatles record. It's a particular treat on cuts like "Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey". That said, it's not a monolithic mastering job - "Good Night" is handled extremely delicately, with great detail on the strings and a slight recessing of the backing vocals that makes them feel more unified with the orchestra. This is simply very very good. I can't say with any authority that it's the best pressing of this album, but it's better than any other I've heard to this point.
-
Do yourself a favor and find a NM copy of this before the prices go up, because this is the best sounding version I’ve heard, and it’s straight from the master tapes, cut before digital was used, so it’s very pure. Sounds incredible on my very high end system. I can understand how Manson was driven mad by this album, so multi layered and complex, while also being sweet and accessible. MoFi really did great with this one.

LOVE IT!. My daughter told me that I could not sell or damage it as it is the one LP that she wanted from my collection when I die. Blackbird is AMAZING!.
-
I have the A3 version - MFSL-2-0721-A3 H132 and also the original. This is the one I put on when I clean the windows, once a year. Why? Easy to get lost in it, a more refined, delicate sound, although the original may have more punch, midrange, etc. It runs a bit lower than the original, and the volume has to be turned up to get a fair comparison.
-
Sound is very clear and deep and shows lot of détails - there is however a lack of mid range medium that is quite a shame specially on acoustic numbers

When I was a teenager, my little brothers stole this Beatles album from my room and memorized it.
When my brother Steve was in the last stages of Alzheimer’s, I played it for him. When the the song ‘piggies’ came on he started singing it and laughing. One of my best memories.
