Lovely lovely pressing, highly recommend this Damont pressing if you love this album as much as I do

I picked up a copy a few months back in Copenhagen. The shop was selling it as an "Original 2001 UK copy". I have this barcode, but I don't have the ™ after MIKE'S. So which pressing do I have?
-
My copy has side C matrix of: XLLP 138 C1 DAMONT MIKE'S ™ - THE EXCHANGE (S.D) but in every other respect matches this entry and not any of the others listed under the master release. I got very excited thinking perhaps this would mean a very very early press including the original "Frontier Psychiatrist" but I don't *think* so? (I'm not great at telling the difference honestly!)

Disclaimer for anyone that sees this version come across for sale by groovesland. They will steal your money and give you a repress from 2012/2016.

Check if you have the correct matrix and artwork on spine (see review @ Chedda) This is a very nice pressing, dynamics are good, sound is powerfull and with no surface noice. Very nice to have this in my collection, buy this version with confidence.
Source Wiki:
Since I Left You is the debut studio album by Australian electronic music group the Avalanches, released on 27 November 2000 by Modular Recordings. It was produced by group Robbie Chater and Darren Seltmann (under the pseudonym Bobbydazzler), and samples extensively from various genres. The album was recorded and produced at two separate, near-identical studios by Chater and Seltmann, exchanging audio mixes of records they sampled.
After the album's positive reception in Australia, the duo considered an international release – its date was held back until 2001 in the United Kingdom and North America and appeared in slightly altered forms. The delay and changes occurred so that the group could obtain permission to use the samples or use replacements. Four singles were released from the album: "Electricity", "Frontier Psychiatrist", "Since I Left You", and "Radio". The group promoted the album by organizing headlining tours in Australia, Europe and the United States.
Since I Left You was acclaimed by critics. It peaked in the top 30 on the ARIA Albums Chart, number 12 in Norway, number eight on the UK Album Charts and, in the United States, at number ten on the Top Electronic Albums chart and in the top 40 on the Top Heatseekers chart. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2001, it won in four categories: Breakthrough Artist – Album, Best Dance Release, Producer of the Year for Bobbydazzler, and Breakthrough Artist – Single for "Frontier Psychiatrist". Since I Left You became one of the best-reviewed albums of the 2000s, and was listed at number ten in the book 100 Best Australian Albums.

Edited 5 years agoJust listened through for the first time, the rerecorded samples for Frontier Psychiatrist were quite jarring, probably go as far to say they actually sound bad and kind of ruin it.
The rest was enjoyable though and glad to finally have this.
So if Frontier is your favourite track I would avoid, otherwise it's a good listen -
BUYERS BEWARE!
The 2012 and 2016 UK & Europe Reissues are being sold by unscrupulous sellers as the 2001 UK Original as they share the same catalogue and bar code numbers.
BEFORE BUYING, be sure to make the seller check the matrix numbers which are:
Matrix / Runout (Runout side A hand-etched): XLLP 138 A1 DAMONT MIKE'S ™ - THE EXCHANGE (S.D)
Matrix / Runout (Runout side B hand-etched): XLLP 138 B1 DAMONT MIKE'S ™ - THE EXCHANGE
Matrix / Runout (Runout side C hand-etched): XLLP 138 C-4 DAMONT MIKE'S ™ - THE EXCHANGE
Matrix / Runout (Runout side D hand-etched): XLLP 138 D1 DAMONT MIKE'S ™ - THE EXCHANGE (S.D)
IT IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT THE SEALED VERSIONS AVAILABLE HERE ARE 2001 UK ORIGINALS!
According to the info here on Discogs, the reissues have a blue spine. On the original, the album artwork can be seen on the spine.
GOOD LUCK! -

Everyone bitches about this version of the record. Id rather have this than the one with less samples. It doesn't have the intro bit to Radio, the voices are different in Frontier Psychiatrist, and it doesn't have the flutes in Extra Kinds. It's a new sound, and very unique all together, just deal with it and enjoy it for what it is.
