This is SO SO SO GOOD. Marvellous, maybe LZ 1's best pressing I've heard so far (although I didn't have the chance to hear an original one yet). Really powerful, with deep and precise bass, thunderous drums and a lot of instrument separation. Sublime and totally worth it.

It's not always the case with some of these 1976 Japanese editions (the LZ 3 one, for instance, is really not good), but this one is mind-blowing. And I'm the annoying audiophile type.

      Hi all,

I saw some beautiful and expensive Mint sealed copies listed here. Just want to warn you about my story...

A friend of mine picked-up for me a so called "Mint sealed" copy of a Japanese press in Paris () from a store which is listing here and many others "Mint sealed" nice records.

My friend is not a collector/expert and despite the shrink had been opened and the record checked, he didn't see the very light hairlines and spindle marks difficult to see at day light.

The record is more or less NM all around and an insert was missing. It costed me probably twice the price I should have been paying for. It's not bad grading, it's simply robbery.

So, be careful, famous old records still sealed are pretty rare on the market. Only real collectors and very serious stores like some I'm in touch with in Japan and the US can be trusted. And unfortunately more and more robbers like that shop in Paris are re-sealing records to make more money faster. I gave it a try. Too bad for me. A second try is not necessary, just don't buy anything from that guy.

Can't compare with an original pressing but you know from the start this an exceptionnal sounding issue. The acoustic parts stand out.

It’s been awhile since I played this absolute gem and it makes me briefly forget I don’t have the Classic pressing. I’ve got the Alvear, ‘77 Piros, ‘69 Club, 2014, and a few more and this 1976 Japan is a very strong contender. I don’t feel the Piros blows it away or anything like that. Ranks very, very STRONG!!!

More dynamic than my Canadian and German press, why a nice find with obi too!

This sounds very close mastering to my George Piros copy, this is definitely better. Much quiter vinyl, so those quieter parts really shine. There is better definition of all the instruments and soundstaging. Even with headphones on, I feel transported to the recording room as if I'm standing in the middle of the band. Bass can be lacking in certain Japanese pressings but not this one. Soundsvhow this album was meant to I feel.

How are the bass levels on this release? Word count.

Straight from the needle drop you know this is something special. Silent vinyl. Huge dynamics. Great bass, tights mids, sounds like Bonham is playing in the living room
