Side B doesn’t have that much crackles but side A got a plenty (mostly during the quiet parts) and there’s a small scratch on A1 :( I haven’t cleaned this yet so I’ll edit this once I clean and listen again
-
This is a somewhat strange one…I have a copy which appears to match in every way, other than two exceptions. I’d consider the first to be a simple variant - the etching indicates 3A/3B, instead of 1A/1B (Var. 1) or 2A/2B (Var. 2). But the second difference I’ve noticed has me very curious about whether this is more than just a simple variant, or if my eyes are playing tricks on me: the deadwax in the photos appears to be roughly 1 cm wide, but on my copy the deadwax is noticeably wider, at roughly 3 cm, on both Side A and Side B.
I’m left wondering if this is perhaps a different pressing entirely, or if my eyes are playing tricks on me, which with clear color vinyl can definitely happen. But it’s the same tracklisting, and the times listed seem accurate as well, so if the dead wax is indeed wider on this copy, wouldn’t that indicate it might be an entirely different pressing, perhaps to cut down on IGD closer to the center? If so, although I don’t have a way to compare, the volume doesn’t seem to have suffered terribly (if at all) like one might expect from the tighter grooves you’d need to cover the same time duration.
Still not sure if this should be a separate listing or not…but if anyone with Var. 1 or 2 can confirm that their copy has a narrower band of deadwax, or if there’s any other way to determine the answer to these questions, I’d be interested in learning more…

Spinning this today. RIP Angelo. "Where we're from, the birds sing a pretty song, and there's always music in the air."

Sound quality it’s great but mine has a serious scratch noise con track B2. I asked for a new one, but has the same failure.

Guys I promise it’ll get reissued please don’t spend spend 70+ on this
Sounds good though, I got lucky with my mondo and it doesn’t skip but this is still a step up -
This is a bit difficult to review. The green vinyl is beautiful. And I love how faithful the packaging is to the original pressing. For the most part, the sound here is excellent, with mild-to-non-existent suface noise. However, there are very occasional crackles- just a couple times on each side- so I can't give this a full five stars.

Edited 4 years agoMy copy is perfectly centered, perfectly flat. Side A is nearly dead quiet. Side B has a bit more noise and crackles but nothing too serious in my opinion. The music quality is fantastic, very good pick up.
Will re-review after cleaning to see if the noise on Side B dissipates. -
I have some scratch-like noises on mine on tracks B1, B2, B5 and B6, seems to be a pressing issue. The sound quality is great, but the noises can be annoying sometimes, it's a shame.

mine sounds okay. I have some surface noise but that could just be a needle that needs replacing- besides that, it sounded pretty nice.
