Don McLean – American Pie

I know it’s a reprint but it sounds way better than my 1971 version which has seen things. :) I will say that the original is a heavier in weight than this version but as I mentioned this pressing sounds quiet and full. Highly recommended!

My collection is mostly LPs but I picked this CD up used for a great price. Very, very analogue sounding. Highly recommended. That said, I can't compare to other releases, be it CD or LP, but I think you can buy with confidence.

Always loved how this record sounded - quiet, balanced and dynamic - only today did I realise it's a Singapore Chiang Hunt pressing!

This sounds better than any of the other new reissue comming out from either Friday or the 2016 Capitol. Reissue made in Mexico, I'll gladly stick with this one for now till someone actually gets it right.... It just sounds so much more natural...

This entry should be for the Press Kit only. Now there is only one original Press Kit copy correctly listed. All the other listings declare: "No Press Kit"? Then why list these regular releases here?

This 2003 edition is the best-sounding digital master of American Pie. Schwartz has managed to do what no before or since has been able to accomplish.

I will respond to my own question below, as I finally went ahead and bought this re-issue of Don McLean - American Pie) is far more open and offers more clarity than this one, and Don's voice is more forward in the mix, offering a much more pleasant and engaging listening experience. To put it differently, the 1974 OG made me tap my feet. This one didn't.
