I just got the 2024 Re issue vinyl 180 gram and it had mofi innersleeves. Which is cool, but seemed kinda odd. Does anyone know where there was pressed ? And anyone have it and also got mofi innersleves ?

I bought the CD and VHS back on release date in 1989. The CD was a very good sounding version, I still have both.
This vinyl issue from 2015 is excellent with great low end quality. Geddy’s bass is nice thick and clear…..An excellent reissue by Sean Magee. -
When I was a teenager in the 80s, Rush wasn’t a favorite. It wasn’t until I went to college that I grew to appreciate their music much more. I then started to collect their back catalog - from the debut through ‘Exit’. However I didn’t have any great desire to get the LPs that came after as during this period of my listening life, I didn’t care for the keyboard heavy musical direction then band had taken and though I did like ‘Signals’, ‘Grace Under Pressure’ and ‘Power Windows’ it wasn’t enough to get me to buy them. As the box set collections started to come out over the last decade or so, I started to revisit all the eras of Rush and Sector 3 helped me fill in my collection. Listening to all these LPs decades later I have grown a new appreciation for those records. That being said, their third live album, ‘A Show of Hands’ is kind of a mixed bag. The performances are fine and the track selection is the very best from the 82-87 era but it doesn’t feel like a live record. “The Big Money” and “Subdivisions” open the album and are probably the two best songs from this period. Much like ‘Exit…Stage Left’, this is more of a greatest hits as the live cuts really don’t differ much from their studio versions and the songs are separated by fade outs so the illusion of one taped concert is not there. There are other Rush compilations so unless you are a diehard Rush fan - you really don’t need ‘A Show of Hands’ but it does represent the era fairly well and while you can hear the crowd, it ain’t no ‘All the World’s a Stage’.

Edited one year agoMy copy has the 180 gram sticker on the front, but similar run-out indicators to this. Also, it came with MoFi inner sleeves…is this typical? Bought new from Amazon.

What a superbly produced album. It says something when a live recording is virtually indistinguishable from a studio production but this record is testament to the fact that it is achievable. Featuring mostly tracks from Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows and Hold Your Fire this plays like a Rush's Greatest Hits 1984-87 with a few extras thrown in for good measure. My only complaint would be that Alex's guitar is occasionally a little low in the mix but apart from that, this is a great pressing highlighting a period where they transformed from a three instrument prog/hard-rock set up to throwing in synths to expand their sound to become worldwide arena-filling rock deities.

This release sounds amazing! Dead quiet! The mix is great. Incredible low ends! When Geddy steps on his bass pedals all the walls in my apartment vibrate. I have to ease the bass back on my speakers for this one. I love all these 200g reissues. If you don’t have A Show of Hands, and you love Rush, this is a must for your vinyl collection

Wow. Just wow. Anyone that's on the fence with this release, hop off, and spend the money. ASOH and HYF are the only two Rush albums from the 2015/2016 remasters you can still buy new on Amazon. I understand that 80s Rush, especially late 80s Rush, isn't everyone's cup of tea.
Supposedly, the LaserDisc version of ASOH is the best sounding representation of this album. I have an MP4 rip of the LaserDisc but would love to find an ISO with no compression on the audio track to test alongside of this vinyl release. The original 1989 vinyl release of this album also sounds great.
Pick. This. Up! -
Much better live album than I expected when first listening. The live performances breathe some new life into the mid to late 80s tracks, making them quite engaging. There's a sense of urgency and purpose to some of these tracks which isn't present on the studio versions. The use of keys/synths comes much more tasteful than it did in albums like Power Windows. Maybe it's because they're drowned out by guitar and the heavy drums in this recording, but it's a welcome surprise. Speaking of drums, Neil really sounds great on here, thank god- as I expected his playing to be totally buried in the the live mix. He has some cool (and tasteful) effects and electronic drums as well, a nice variety. That's about it really. Oh and the album cover is god awful. I wouldn't blame someone for avoiding it solely based on that. I almost did.

Edited 4 years agoJust put this on
I’d have to go back and listen to the other version I have which is the 97 remaster
So far I like what I’m hearing, it’s got a nice live sound, you can really hear the difference in each venue they played, Neils Drum solo sounds great very clear!
Like I said I’ll have to go back and revisit other versions
P.s. I have the original 1980s CD which I think sounds great and the 97 remaster, this vinyl sounds a lot more like the original 80s release, something is just not right about the 97 version like you said sounds very squashed and compressed and nothing is spread out! I say this knowing of the notorious issues the 97 remasters have. time stand still sounds great can hear lots of Detail neils different percussion
Nice! These faithful 2015 remasters are great and doing the original recordings Justice ! -
Terrific remaster. Worlds better than the original. Clear, balanced, with a surprising amount of low end.
