The Cars – The Cars

Never was a big Cars fan, but this MoFi remaster of this album was recommended to me by a trusted source.

Man, was he right. How did I miss this album my whole 47 years? We've all heard most of the songs. Almost every one was a Top 20 hit.

This vinyl and this remaster are just extraordinary. Sonic perfection. It shows how good vinyl can be when done with care and precision.

This one is a legend. Now I have to pick up the next MoFi in the Cars' catalog.

Extraordinary. Detail, dynamics, soundstage, everything is excellent.

DON'T PAY THE FLIPPERS HIGH PRICES! Get it from a brick and mortar store, they have a release coming out 7/11/25! I see it has been posted below. I ordered mine and just wanted to help!

Playing this on my HDCD player now and it is a very great master, I can definitely hear a difference, best way I’ve heard the album so far!

Their best, Ocasek´s vision in crisp, explosive detail, bridging the underground and the mainstream in the Nuggets jolt of Just What I Needed, the cheery despair in Best Friend's Girl and Moving In Stereo's glacial enigma.

Hey there. I worked at a record store back in the day and usually the one opening new shipments. I came across a singular copy of this disc that has an obviously misprinted jacket, as it has a pink hue both on the front and back. Anyone else come across such a thing? I put it aside for myself and is still sealed after all these years.

I found this to be a well balanced version of the debut album. While it's not as loud and aggressive as the OG, it definitely sounds better than the version from the box set (yellow vinyl, I found the yellow pressing to have more sibilance-like issues with the vocals). Also sounds better than the Nautilus (mid range scoop for sure), and the MoFi (nice but a bit flat sounding compared to the others). I don't have the KG cut Rhino HiFi as I ed on it and not willing to pay $150 when I have 2 pressings that sound quite nice (this and the OG). I think the DCC CD is still the best sounding version of all.

In reference to a third variant, MADE IN CANADA 15. Doubt that it actually matters but this is such a better sounding edition compared to an earlier release that the fact that these are oft too loud is moot.

In reference to a non-club edition that is identical. A low output, dull transfer that is not even close to the HDCD remaster.

Such a great pressing! Punchy, dynamic, just all around kick ass album pressing. The mastering on this is top notch and sounds fantastic!
