Edited one year agoThis is a very fantastic version of this album. Clean, crisp, detailed, high end sparkle, great instrument separation and soundstage. If you find a good deal on a copy, try it out!
The bass? Yes, it's a bit lacking. Just use some EQ. Since it's such a clean source already, it tolerates a bit of EQ. I'd say the bass levels are a bit down, but the detail is there. So just bring it out a bit and you're good.
At this time, everyone is going crazy over the Rhino pressing...but you can actually solve the bass problem (if you even think it's lacking) and potentially save yourself a ton of money. Figured I'd mention that because I think most folks tend to review things as is, which makes sense, but doesn't mean you're without options nor does it mean something isn't any good. This pressing is absolute quality like many other Japanese pressings of this time period. -
In the very quiet parts, there is some light surface noise, but otherwise a very good pressing. Wide sound stage, really sharp, with highs, mids and low end nicely balanced. Definitely better than any stream of heard of this album.
