Weatherall Mix - what a fucking waste of 11 minutes of prime vinyl real estate. At least shove it on the B side and let the OG and the Dub breathe properly.
Sack all the others too, while we're at it. -

''Journey To Pyramid'' is the best ever version of this track, and the main reason i bought this record. It is dark and it has tension. The original track is boring in my opinion. I never liked ''Papua new Guinea'' actually, and i don;t know why it became a huge classic. Totally overrated. -

One of those tunes that is so ubiquitous that you can become almost desensitised to it, I’ve heard it so many times I barely react when it comes on but after a few seconds I’m quickly reminded why Papua New Guinea became such an enduring classic in the first place, an absolute masterclass of a tune.
What I would give to hear it for the first time again. -

As great single moments in dance music history (as we know it) go, this is among the greatest. The meeting of all the minds in any room or warehouse or field at that time will never forget that moment of collective ecstacy use. Still sounds as fresh as we wish we felt when that was still the future of the world.
Utterly transcendental, total craftsmanship, hairs everywhere standing up and you can dance like a mad person channeling ancient ancestors, courtesy of Dead Can Dance samples turned from goth into euphoric temple music. -

great remixes. dark Tomiee noughties style (featured on nick warren's essential mix) - tough, deep and dark tribal moodiness a la Diggers LA etc... that whole vibe with some FSOL reprieve in later phases... could imagine it going down well with the newer techno sounds currently abound -
Another bunch of fan mixes using that awful tinny sounding remix pack made by Future Music Magazine back in the late '90s. Wish more people would just cut the sounds direct from the Dumb Child of Q Mix like Hybrid did. Some solid productions here but the fake PNG samples just ruin it.

The L Major jungle remix is a worthy tribute to the much loved classic. The best Papua remix I have heard in years and I prefer it to the drum and bass remixes by High Contrast or Nu:Tone.
I’ve picked up every remix I can find of Papua New Guinea. Not counted them all but I estimate around 20+ remixes have been pressed so far including all the unofficial remixes and bootlegs. L Major is one of the best but its likely no remix will ever match the brilliance of the FSOL original or Andrew Weatherall’s epic remix which still blows me away every time I put it on. -
Hi, for some reason my copy does not have the numbered / limited to 2000 small print. Anyone else has a similar copy?
