How does compare to the U.S. pressing?

"Limited edition " my a...! Another pre-order that now costs a third less of what I paid because it was supposed to be "limited".....but then there are records that if you don't pre-order they end up being very difficult to find and very expensive! I love vinyl but it's getting frustrating these days.....

Excellent sounding cd version, the live disc also sounds fantastic. Great live performance.
I originally bought the 2 lp set but was disappointed with pressing issue with one of the songs. This cd 25th anniversary set is the best.

Mastered at Sterling Sound... No wonder it sounds amazing !!

I haven’t heard the US version, so can’t compare, but I don’t think it’s the disaster some other reviewers believe. The Vinyl was very quiet for background noise and pops/clicks and both LP’s were flat. Most of the songs sounded great to me, no issues. However, the big problem is Sibilance as others have mentioned. It doesn’t affect every song to be fair. Easily the worst culprit is “The Apologist”, when Stipe is repeating the phrase “so sorry” over and over, that really doesn’t sound good.

A collection of sleepy songs, their worst album. I do prefer the CD pressing but the soundscape is a good one.

Does anybody own both the US and the European copy for a comparison? Is the US release so much better?

My first disc is terribly dished. In addition to the “Suspicion” issues, the whole disc sounds off-speed or warbly. I guess because of it being dished? The second disc sounds great. Overall - disappointed with this one.

Not as deep or lush sounding as their other anniversary releases, but good enough.

At first play, my green marble version was ok, but closer inspection reveals a bit of a noisy floor, some ticks and pops, especially on side A, and some nasty non-fill at the end of Suspicion. The package itself is just ok - I’d have preferred a nicer sleeve, but happy enough to have this on vinyl. I’d stick to the black one in the future though - I need to learn my lesson about limited variants!
