      This CD contains the original 1982 mastering, used for all CD versions up to 1995 (except for Japan).

        The Jon Astley remastered version, which many of us prefer to avoid.

          CD sounds amazing. So much warmth and dynamics.

            Contrary to the previous reviewer, and with respect to subjectivity and personal taste, for me this LP is superlative of its genre. Far from being ‘half baked’ with genius ‘sparsely diluted throughout it’, I have always found this work deeply moving and for what was considered their swan-song for over 40 years an entirely appropriate and superlative end point to a staggeringly brilliant library of pop music. The personal nature of these songs shines through in every song. Indeed by the time the metronome stops at the end of the final track it seemed as though we would never hear from them ever again. It is no surprise that the awesome London ‘Voyage’ stage show starts with ‘The Visitors’ and the reception this always gets is indicative of the affection ABBA fans have for this album. Back in the 70’s and early 80s the band’s records weren’t always treated with the respect time has conferred upon them - and many considered their songs as lightweight. However cultural popularity and longevity has surely proved these considerations to be an underestimation. Though my record collection is not inconsiderable having kept everything since my first single in 1969 ‘The Visitors’ is way up there in my Top 10 favourite LPs of all time. An emotional tour de force it is as close to pop perfection as many will ever get - in short, a masterpiece.

              Reviewing every record in my collection;

              I have mixed feelings towards this pressing. The drums sound really, Really good, and their voices sound good too, but sometimes the production sounds messy and details get lost. I mean, I don't know if I could expect much more for a local pressing I bought for pennies, but I wonder if an import would sound better. As a bonus, the Spanish versions, although not better than the originals, do sound great and make it worth owning

                Why is this listed as stereo and mono? Am I missing something?

                  Relieved to see reviews I can agree with. Like hearing the album for the first time again. Details I’d never picked up on before. Some of the instruments sounding like they’re being played right in front of you. Those drums strikes from “Soldiers” just snapping right at my eardrums. Definitely best analog from vinyl to ear.

                      This was a great album this, but quite a sad one. Esp since this was the last ABBA album for a long time.

                      There is also quite arguements nowadays about digital recording masters compared to analog recording masters. This was one of the very first albums to be recorded digitally, instead of on analog tape. A lot of albums (at least nowadays) are most likely recorded digitally since it's cheaper. People might argue that you ain't gonna get the sound with a digital recording, compared to analog. I do surely disagree with that as I have many digitally recorded albums on vinyl and they sound outstanding. Analog might sound slightly better, though digital master is fine. You just need to use the original recording of it, not a compressed copy of it. Of course I do prefer when it's analog recording as that's what vinyl is pretty much known for. Though ain't always like that. Only time you may not want the digital master is if it's originally been recording on analog and then transferred to a digital master. Other than that, it's fine.

                      This album sounds fantastic as well, esp on vinyl. I've listened to both streaming/flac and vinyl to compare. Vinyl version is a 100% times better than the streaming/flac versions.

                        Wow, I've never heard The Visitors like this before.. absolutely quiet and incredibly balanced sound. I've heard sounds from instruments on this master that I've never heard or noticed until now. This is a totally new experience listening to it mastered this way.
