If anyone wants to upgrade their Stereo sleeve a bit: I've found a considerably nice one (VG, I'd say, a little taping, nothing serious) while browsing at a flea market in Cornwall/UK last summer. Unfortunately there was no record inside but I fetched it anyway. Doesn't match with my Mono-gold-and-black so it just sits in the shelf, waiting for a new owner who may has a bad looking sleeve with a nice stereo vinyl. If interested - just send me a message. And yes - it's the genuine 1963 first sleeve.

Why did this one shoot up so much? Is it expected to continue to increase?

LOL, I hope whoever sold their copy in 2014 for $30 never, ever sees what it sold for 8 years later.

Can't fathom why anyone would pay $7000 for this--not even mono. Guess it's a person's right to spend their cold hard cash on what they wish, but there are plenty of copies (Parlophone and Capitol) that sound more than decently close to the actual masters. Unless you own the kind of system that costs as much as a small sized car, you're not going to hear something different here. All of these songs were recorded under primitive conditions, live in the studio, to three track tape, and bounced to mono and stereo by GM and crew very professionally and to the best that the tech at the time could deliver. Perhaps one of the "tube cut" pressings (late 60s?) would give you just a little bit of a hotter sound, but you're good paying $20 or less (IMHO) for one of these.
I'll add that the Vee Jay copies are also rather clean and bright sounding (only speaking of the official pressings, there are tons of bootlegs of this as "Introducing the Beatles", all of which are well explained here on Discogs under that particular listing). All of these pressings suffer from the limitations of the tech (early 60s), so the bass can sound thin or boomy, and the treble a bit too bright and splashy. Just gotta adjust your EQ levels to your liking.
Just saying (a long time Beatles fan.)
