The second album by New Order, released on 02 May 1983.
With its electronic-based sound, it marks the definitive turning away from the rather gloomy predecessor and the Section 25 - From The Hip. The decoding wheel is featured on the back cover, and on the cassette insert. The code on the front sleeve is "FACT 75". The code for the CD front cover is "FACD 75". The code for the inner sleeve reads "New Order Power Corruption And Lies".
The cover features a reproduction of the painting "A Basket of Roses" by French artist Martha Ladly (of Martha & The Muffins) asked him if he was going to use it for the cover. He then realised it was a great idea.
The album cover was chosen by the Royal Mail for a set of "Classic Album Cover" postage stamps issued in January 2010.

this was a 10-15 dollars record up until just a couple years ago. such a shame. -
Pretty decent pressing but honestly the digital through Tidal is superior (I’m sure whatever digital provider is the same). That said, just buy this record if you have the opportunity and it’s affordable. This is as good as it gets for Brit synth-pop and an every track banger of a record. Your collection and setup will love this one.

This just must be one of the greatest albums ever released on any format.What can I say say just listen to it and no explanations is needed!!!. -
Edited 3 months agoInteresting to note that my copy of this US Factus 12c tape version has all the tracks mastered at a slightly slower tempo/speed so that they run several seconds longer than on the UK Factory cassette and vinyl versions. This was the first format of the album I picked up initially in 1983 so inevitably I found that the UK tape and vinyl (and later CD) versions sounded faster in tempo!

This is not intentional "colored" vinyl, this is CHEAP vinyl. -
Edited 7 months agoMe compre este vinilo por aprox.12 dólares (nuevo), el empaque es bastante bueno y respetaron el art-work original, pero el sonido bastante pobre, mi copia venia con mucha fritura y sucia (bastante malo el prensado) y el sonido bastante pobre, en mi sistema se saturan los agudos (en ocasiones) y suena bastante plano -
Sounds a bit flat, but cranking a bit of bass eq in the amp makes the difference. Nice pressing overall. -
I picked up a NM copy for about $50. Might be the best $50 I've ever spent on a single record. -
