Unbelievably terrible mastering on this vinyl version - the guitar and vocals practically gurgle they are so compressed. The singer sounds like he is gargling underwater. Dreadful.

An Old Fashion Way to see how compressed the music are, to record this on an old Fashion Recorder (CD/HDD Recorder or Old Fashion Cassette). The Peak Limiter Display dances with dynamic source and will stay over Seconds on one Position, If the hell is compressed out of it. I record a lot of music on my Yamaha CDR-HD 1300 (mostly ripping my vinyl and some CDs) and can not only hear a dynamic recording, i can see it in my Record Level Meter. And this SACD has a much more dynamic SACD Stereo Layer than the Red Book CD Layer.

Вчера приобрел данное издание. Невероятно тихий винил, ни одного щелчка. Второй раз в жизни такой попадается.
Но есть минус, сторона B с искажениями на высоких частотах. Как будто от саба всё булькает, и это портит дикцию.

Yesterday I bought this edition. Incredibly quiet vinyl, not a single click. The second time in my life I come across such a thing.
But there is a minus, side B with distortions at high frequencies. As if from the sub everything is bubbling, and this spoils the diction.

Even though this is a great album, your ears are going to bleed because of the over-over-over-loud mastering. The 5.1 mix is good though. And again, a bunch of great songs on this one.

Quite a few helpful comments below about how this 2017 vinyl reissue compares to the cd, but has anyone compared it to the original 2005 vinyl? The first vinyl edition which I have is a very compressed mastering job with a harsh, grating sound and clipping in the treble on some tracks. Honestly, it is one of my worst records out of a few thousand. I'd be keen to get the reissue if the sound is improved as it is not a bad Mode record.
