the LP is pressed from a new pair of stampers made from the mothers of the original Carib Gems LP. if anyone doesn't understand what that means i urge them to familiarize themselves with how records are made. it will help contextualize a lot of observations about records, jamaican ones especially. as for the "typos", well, welcome to reggae. :) -

I recently purchased a copy of this Deeper Knowledge reissue of "Psalms For I" by Prince Far I. Overall I'm very pleased with the sound quality, no issues there. Though I have a couple of gripes that I'd might as well mention. The first being that the music sort of "skips" into starting on the first side, or begins with a pop and kind of jumps right into the music. This may only be my copy but I thought it was worth mentioning for those who are concerned that this may be a less than perfect pressing. My other issue was simply the typos and inconsistency on the artwork. Prince Far I is spelled differently on the labels than on the sleeve, and there are typos in the text on the back. These are small issues and not enough to make me swear this pressing off as bad, as it is still listenable and sounds solid in my opinion. Just some things to take into consideration if making a purchase! -

The Voice of Thunder in full form.
Basically Far I is simply reading Psalms over some great classic riddims from the 70s.
Rasta business.
I love this LP! -

This definitely is an 80s re-press (maybe 90s), 100% not original. No doubt about it. The original press had a much brighter sleeve with different info on the back, see Prince Far I - Psalms For I. -

From the pic of the sleeve I'd say this is an 80s repress/re-issue as the graphics appear slightly blurred and darker compared to the first issue (I had several pressings of this seminal album). The original press and sleeve has cleaner graphics compared with the re-issues, the waves on the front-sleeve are very defined and reach down to the bottom, while the waves on the re-issues' sleeves end some cm above the bottom. Moreover the info on the backsleeve is slightly different regarding sleeve-manufacturers. The vid shows the original sleeve, see also Prince Far I - Psalms For I. -

Anyone have this pressing? If so, can you vouch for the quality? Any problems with off-center pressing or other issues? TYIA. -

I'm an Atheist... so why is THIS my favorite record these days? Because it's brilliant. That's why. What a wonderful album this is, from start to finish. Seriously addictive.
