Dua Lipa – Future Nostalgia

Of course, I already have the Moonlight Edition on vinyl - as well as several other FN vinyl editions - including the Club FN, so, no-one forced me to buy this, I will not blame Dua, I have to take full responsibility ;)
The choice to squeeze the 4 records into three is a good choice as the pressing here isn't a let down. And, as unnecessary as it is to point out by now, why only press the second split LP as a clear w splatter? They could've used the same splatter on all three, or, make a lime splatter as well as a pink splatter? However, I don't like three LPs in a gatefold sleeve so I don't mind the standard wide cover. The inners have nice big pictures (THEY should be in gatefold, all three!!) and the big leaflet has all the info, and, yes, we can't get enough of Dua, so it could well boast more pics, maybe even from the original Future Nostalgia? Still, I like the expanded edtn and many of the remixes are adding rich flavor to the game, Woolford and Stuart Price/Jacques Lu Cont foremost (to no surprise) so I can't complain on a whole. The expectations are high on Dua Lipa's future projects and new music, now that she fully is an international star.
Sooner or later we will probably get flooded by Radical Optimism re-editions club / expanded / moonlight shore editions... And that's where you will find me :)

Been consciously listening to all kinda genres since ca 1990. This sounds like a soulless product straight from the 3d printer.

Best bits of the album are samples/borrowed melodies from older classic tracks.

If i were to make a review of this pressing on how it's presented, i would give it a 3/3.5 stars. Yes, it should have definitely been a gatefold and it's a weird choice in only having one splattered record AND for that splattered record not to be the main/original Future Nostalgia album itself (Sides A and B). Now, as for the pressing itself, hearing it in a Garrard 301, it has no noise, no cracks (but the ones digitally added, like at the beginning of Don't Start Now), good dynamics and good bass, the reason why i give it 4 stars instead of 3. Overall, a very good mastered/pressed record but the presentation could have been way better for sure.

excited to listen to this. it’s been a while since i actually listened to her albums. love that it’s a 3lp and can see the scheme they were going for but seems some extra effort could have gone into the presentation, packaging or even including pictures in the booklet. just feels like it just missed the mark there. other than that… im impressed

Bad pressing, warped and had a regular sound, not dynamic and lacks bass punch

Given that this album emmerged during the pandemic and hence fuelled a plethera of Kiitchen discos it sort of makes sense the dance element in the remixes should be celebrated. As should the original album which expertly executed in it's own right. It's a fun album for the completist and the vinyl is both flat and pretty silent. Audio is very well mastered too. Good value I'd say. As for the colour of the vinyl? So long as the music is good I don't really care...

I spun this last night after getting it & noticed “Club Future Nostalgia” sounded different. It is not the continuous mix of the original 2LP release & the tracks aren’t in the same order. So I guess I’m happy I didn’t re-buy everything I already had? I’ll second that motion of its strange there is just 1 record that isn’t black. Also strange choice to present these in a single sleeve rather than some kind of gatefold. They really should’ve included the “Physical” mix with Troye Sivan to make this really feel like it’s an anniversary release. JMHO.

Just one splatter variant, no gatefold. This variant feels rushed

First of all, I love this album. BUT… this pressing is a mess. I got it brand new and sealed today, but to my surprise, Side A—particularly on Pretty Please—has a section with a lot of scratches. Side B, on Break My Heart, has a popping sound with every revolution of the record. I believe the issue lies with the production, as they need to step up their quality control.

My theory is that since there’s a hole in the sleeve, some hard material may have entered and scratched the record. They could have at least added a plastic cover over the sleeve to protect the record, like other releases with similar packaging.

Splatter on this looks awful. The one on the Urban pressing looks way better.
