Notes
A single LP version titled Sandinista Now! featuring 12 of the 36 tracks was released in the US to promote the album.
Sandinista! is the fourth studio album by the English band the Clash. It was released on 12 December 1980 as a triple album containing 36 tracks, with 6 songs on each side. Anticipating the "world music" trend of the 1980s, it features funk, reggae, jazz, gospel, rockabilly, folk, dub, rhythm and blues, calypso, disco, and rap. For the first time, the band's traditional songwriting credits of Strummer and Jones were replaced by a generic credit to the Clash, and the band agreed to a decrease in album royalties in order to release the 3-LP at a low price.
The title refers to the Sandinistas in Nicaragua, and its catalogue number, 'FSLN1', refers to the abbreviation of the party's Spanish name, Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional.
Sandinista! was voted best album of the year in the Pazz & Jop critics poll in The Village Voice, and was ranked number 404 on the Rolling Stone list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time" in 2003. Slant Magazine listed the album at number 85 on its "Best Albums of the 1980s" list in 2012.

Edited 4 months agoEdge warp on 2 disks.
But I’ve gotten over the obsession of everything being flat.
As long as it plays without issue.
And this thing plays great!
Excellent reissue.
Great dynamic range, vinyl is quiet despite the the rollercoaster ride.
Its bent, but bent ok. -

I used to own this, it didn't come with the Armagideon Times. A rather pointless release, I eventually replaced it with the full Sandinista! The third LP is essential IMO -

Great to pull out this six and blindly play a side. Always a pleasant surprise. This is radio clash. Italian mobster shoots a lobster! -
Sometimes described as a "sprawling masterpiece". Sprawl it does, masterful it falls short of. They say "cream floats to the top" and in this case that's largely true, side A sublime, B as well, C pretty damn good, D has it's moments. If anyone ever pays a return visit to side F I'd ire their fortitude. If the album cut off at D6 then reserved parts of E as bonus tracks, then yes it would have a case for the masterpiece accolade. As it is there's just too much filler and self-indulgent dross on E and F to deserve it.

Mine is most like this one but different matrices that I can't find on other releases. CBS S 66363 A1 crossed out then FSLN1 A1 (stamped). FSLN1 B3, FSLN1 C6. FSLN1 D2. FSLN1 E5. FSLN1 F5. Can't see timtom anywhere. -

Another very low output edition, that just fails to deliver. -
As good as London Calling, period. This pressing is a dream, and Tim Young created the definite masters for the entire Clash discography, anyone disagree?
The variety of styles might be disturbing to many, I always loved it. The Reggae tunes are superb, as is the whole album. It's like watching a movie. A great one!!
One of my favourite albums. -
This record is truly beyond category. The amount of craft and detail seems phenomenal to me. A good record will stretch you beyond your normal expectations. That’s exactly what this record does.

My copies poster is different. It has the same printing on it, but instead of folding out to a 6 , one sided poster, it folds out to a 3 poster, with half the s printed on one side, and half printed on the other side -
Instead of Sandinista being a triple album, they should have made it a 12” single with the Magnificat Seven, and purified the rest of the master tapes in an oily fire.
