The Artist (Formerly Known As Prince) – The Versace Experience - Prelude 2 Gold

Basically a 33 minute sampler EP in a digipak. No liner notes were included. Nice to simply bolster my ‘Gold Experience’ playlist.

A perfect pressing and the record looks way cooler than one can suspect from looking at the the photos.

Jeez, I would have left mine in the wrap if I knew how expensive this release was going to be!

Apparently they used an original cassette pressing as the source for this release (and the CD, and web, and cassette repress) and you can definitely tell. A few dropouts in places, plus noticeable tape hiss when you compare it to tracks on The Gold Experience. Now we know why the cassette sounds terrible, it's basically a direct copy! Not unbearable, but noticeable. Wish they could've tracked down a better master, but it's fine.

Was thrilled to hear this for less than thousands of dollars in April, 2019. I don't go out on RSD - can't stand it. But was in a store the next week and bought it immediately. Only to see it on CD format [what I actually listen to, and with no hiss] exactly five months later. Not cool. Not cool at all.

Good quality sound. No noise and depth of sound with decent separation.

How is the sound quality of this vinyl? The same terrible as the MC?

Some quality control wouldn't have gone amiss here! The distortion is ridiculous. How on earth did anyone ever let this go ahead?

Seriously, buy this album on CD or vinyl instead. The cassette version is really bad.

A vinyl and CD issue of this was just announced today. Releasing September 13.

1000 copies for the ‘Purple’ cassette...
4000 copies for the ‘Clear’ cassette....makes me wonder if those 4000 copies are worldwide, or 4000 for the US release...and 4000 for the EU release....and another extra batch for the Japan release....How limited is this cassette exactly???
