Maybe the best live rock album of all time. Wide range, crisp, great pressing and The Who in their prime. I highly recommend the 3 record release because I Tommy is played nothing but brilliant. John Entwistle had an amazing sound 55 years ago - crisp, dynamic, full bodied with a nice amount of natural overdrive on it. His technique was already outstanding. One of my favorite albums in my collection. Buy it!

Wonderful sounding vinyl, excellent musical content of course. Pretty much perfect, and the best way to hear the album, at least in my opinion. Totally recommended.

Edited 4 months agoI cannot understand in any way the reviews in which people complain about background noises in the almost 6 decades old source material. Besides that mine came in perfect condition, centered, flat, absolutely clean. I really don’t like these kind of blank inner sleeves but why else one should always have at least a dozen of Nagaoka Innersleeves as a reserve?
Of course there are some sounds on the tapes which have been mastered carefully. So what?! You become witness of The WHO in their absolute prime as a live act. This is so incredibly good. This version of Tommy is mind-blowing! The whole recording is amazing, outstanding atmosphere and an ass kicking performance by the band which is extremely present and defined nevertheless! And the mastering is crisp! The range and cleanliness especially of the high frequencies is astonishing and is so fundamental in the band’s sound - in wild cymbal rides of Keith Moon or in John Entwistle cutting through like a chainsaw.
If you want to hear why The WHO have this G.O.A.T. legacy when it comes to live performances in the classic age here you go and you go the full distance of a show back then!
This and Deep Purple’s Made in Japan are my absolute favorites when it comes to classic rock live-albums. -

My item came with a label Dean Martin on record 2 and have a long scratch on side 3 track 1 with some crackling.

Edited 7 months agoThis sounds incredible for a live recording! Tommy live is real treat, the highlight of this album. The definitive pressing of this album, as far as I'm concerned. The vinyl is thick, clean, flat, no problems whatsoever. Clear, detailed, dynamic and punchy as hell. Highly recommended! 👍👍

I had to clean it pretty intensely, but once I did, it played fine. Sound quality is great, clear and detailed with Moon's bass drum and Pete's fuzz pedal rocking out. Can't go wrong with this performance... the sheer power of the band is unbelievable.
-
It's great to have this full concert, but man, the pops and crackles are pretty bad. Apparently it's on the original tapes, but wish they could have cleaned it up more.
-
Just noticed that on the discs it says “crackling noises ok do not fix” Hmmmm… I guess I didn’t need to clean it three times . LOL. Anyone have any info on this. Is it on the tapes? That seems unlikely. The sound of this is great! But a lot of crackle in some places. I guess that’s ok.
-
GZ pressing - easily identifiable by their usual dirt and debris "coating" Loricrafted and plays excellent now. 3 discs are perfectly flat - not that bad at all ... Soundwise I prefer the 1970 original release, of course - but I'd like to have the full show ...
