Decent enough album but one of the nastiest sounding recordings I've ever heard. I'm actually scared to replace it in case it's just badly mastered.

"I Want To Wake Up" is a gem of a dark melancholic pop tune. One of their absolute best. Addictive.

lthough I love PSB, "Actually" is not one of my favorites PSB CDs. However, I'm very pleased with this two disc re-issue. Disc 1 contains the 10 tracks originally found on "Actually." In the US, the CD was certified gold and they released two songs: It's a Sin (#9) and What Have I Done to Deserve This? (#2). The CD did even better in the UK, where they released four songs: It?s a Sin (#1), What Have I Done to Deserve This? (#2), Rent (#8), and Heart (#1).

Disc 2 includes 14 remixes and b-sides from that era (1987-1989). The remixes are terrific. For example, "Heart" is represented with several previously unreleased remixes. In addition, three excellent b-sides are included: You Know Where You Went Wrong, New Life, and Do I Have To? Finally, "I Want a Dog" and "Always on My Mind" are here, which were later remixed and appeared on their "Introspective? CD.

The re-issue also includes an exclusive 36-page booklet, with lyrics for all songs and tons of pictures. Best of all, the PSB make comments about the CD and each song. One interesting tidbit: "Shopping" was inspired by Cameo's "Word Up"! PSB fans will love this CD. Others may want to go for the original, cheaper version of "Actually."

Some of their finest songs are on display here (It Couldn't Happen Here & King's Cross), but it doesn't flow or work as an album as a whole. At 48 minutes it is too long, with inclusion of songs like Shopping and Hit Music that should have been relegated to b-sides.

Their first album "Please" was pretty good and "Actually" is almost even better. 4 hit singles : the dramatic and cult tune "It's A Sin", their magical duet with Dusty Springfield "What Have I Done To Deserve This", the haunting "Rent" and the poppy and light-hearted well "Heart".

And like in "Please", again, even the album tracks are very good, the surprising and ingenious "Shopping", the stomper "Hit Music", the harmonic "I Want To Wake Up" and finally the prescient "King's Cross".

"Please" was a classic and "Actually" is perhaps their true masterpiece.

I've just seen a copy of this with no title on the spine, just the catalogue number. It looks as new so I really don't think it's worn off. It's A1-1-1/B1-1-1. My later copy has the full title on the spine. Was the artwork retouched?
