Bowie was inspired by the song Funky Music (Is A Part Of Me) written by Luther - Luther so much so that they re-wrote it and it became "Fascination". -
I guess the reason this album doesn't always get the love it deserves is because most Bowie fans lean towards the rock side of things and didn't want a funk/soul album from him. Personally I love it just as much as the rest of his 70s output, the only misstep perhaps being the inclusion of Across The Universe, which i always felt sits a bit awkwardly within the album. But this original UK press sounds fabulous and John Lennon playing guitar on a track like Fame is just cool as hell. -
This is a very nice album by David Bowie and sounds great. This UK pressing sounds warm and crisp, really nice. The label is orange color and not så red as on the pictures. -

I have a copy with the cat # of PB 74764 on the back cover (on the label it says PB 74765). Can't find a reference for this anywhere. I suspect it may be from a box set.

While the saxes in Young Americans are undoubtably awesome, having to listen to them for the entirety of the record is exhausting. I'll just get Changes for the hits as I can do without the rest. -
