This music has been recorded at Studio Hérouville that was famous for the exceptionnal sound quality to count on. Several british musicians delivered great music between those walls.

My copy has all the marking of this (variant #1) but on the back cover it doesn't have (LP) after RS1003. It also has APLI-0214 on the spine.
I also have a copy that says Printed in Canada on record label with the same mat number as 1st press

By 1973, Bowie could do no wrong. When it meant dedicating a full album to his heroes (the Kinks, Pink Floyd, Them, Yardbirds) fans weren't fully receptive as it was hard to digest after 1972's 'Ziggy Stardust' and it's follow-up, 'Aladdin Sane'. However after hearing the album numerous times the cover versions offer a slice of glam punk heaven. Bowie's remakes 'of 'Here Comes The Night', 'Friday On My Mind' and the Kinks classic 'Where Have All The Good Times Gone' are standouts but Bowie's blue-eyed tinged version of 'Sorrow' showcase his impressive vocal range as well as his underrated sax playing. The band is yet led again by Mick Ronson with Aynsley Dunbar providing the back beat.

I have UK RS1003 1973 (orange label). On the spine is written RS1003 (APLI-0214).
                Matrix: RS-1003-A-3E 'W' A2Y // RS-1003-B-3E 'W' ALAN (the "L" could also be "1" or a "/" and the "N" could also be "H".

Is there any detailed information somewhere about the album/matrix differences?

I too have INTS 5236. It was a 1981 (or thereabouts) issue in the Lifetimes series. All Bowie LPs were re-released then. I've added this to the database, without finding this particular master release and am now struggling to combine the two.
