Notes

Reissue by RCA of David Bowie, non laminated card sleeve with a new design; Printed in England by Robert Stace.
Note that this reissue drops track A2.2 'Don't Sit Down' that appears on the original 1969 release.
"Previously released on Philips Records SBL 7912" in front bottom right corner - text is on one line only, other issues have it split onto two lines.
Orange labels are semi-glossy, headers read: Side1Stereo and Side2Stereo and have four lines of text in white at the bottom in a semi-circle.
Matrix variations start at BPRS 4501 1E / BPRS 4502-1E, subsequent issues may have MainMan replacing Titanic Music in the credits and a MainMan logo on back cover.
Inner sleeve with lyrics printed in blue and pink, LSP-4813, Printed in England, also crediting Titanic Music.
Some copies, issued with a 21"x24" poster of the cover shot, also had a black & white peelable sticker stating: David Bowie Poster Enclosed.
Front, back cover, inners and poster features uncredited photography by Mick Rock.

A1, B3, B5: Essex Music International
A2 to A4, B1, B2, B4: Titanic Music/ Chrysalis

The variations shown on this listing included both different stampers from the same lacquer cut as well as different lacquer cuts from the source tape. The first number & letter combination after the matrix number (eg BPRS 4502- 1E, 2E etc) indicates the sequence of cuts (1,2,3) and whether they were cut at RCA or not (eg E). It follows that each cut may sound different from others.

Space oddity is my wife’s all time favorite song and she had never heard it on vinyl before. I picked this up for her and when we heard space oddity, she looked at me and said “wow”. I agree - this pressing is just gorgeous!!!

I Feel blessed to have a mint all round 1E 1E of this album, plays like a dream and you can just get lost in the quality of the amazing songs. It really is a transitional album.

I have a spare OIS in G+ condition (2 seam splits, stains, creased corners) if anyone is interested in it.

Really charming album. A interesting piece of history but more than that a good album. Space oddity is a song that I may never need to hear again but it's still fantastic. The deeper cuts are great too. Particularly Memories of a free festival and Cygnet Committee. This version sounds great as well

Does anyone know who wrote the sleeve notes for the 1972 reissue?

My copy is mis-labelled with Perry Como: And I Love You So on the A-side, which is unusual.
