Here is an Oasis maxi single which is actually good value for money and not just a copout as a fair few of their other ones are.
We have the title track which is arguably the best ballad they've ever done, except perhaps with the exception of Champagne Supernova (if you can call that a ballad).
Then we have a storming live rendition of Cigarettes and Alcohol with Liam really emphasising the Mancunian for the G-Mex crowd and Noel giving it some welly with the backing vocals.
Sad Song is up next, one of Noel's best I feel.Definitely up there with Little By Little, Talk Tonight and The Masterplan.Certainly his voice works best with acoustic songs, though Little By Little is an exception,so too Falling Down on what appears to be their final album.(Sob!).
To finish we have an alternative version of Fade Away which was recorded for the "Help" album. This is a real gem and I'll tell you why.First up it's an acoustic version which means of course Noel should take the lead vocal, which he duly does. But then, who should pop up with the backing vocals? Why it's Liam!I believe this is the only Oasis song released where this is the case i.e roles reversed and it really works! It makes me wish they'd done it more often but it's fairly obvious that the old sibling rivalry got in the way-shame.Not sure why Lisa Moorish needed to get in on the act at the end, but I'll give some respect to Mr Depp.
Well worth having this one.
