This is a really well done box, which had the unfortunate timing to coincide with the global financial meltdown of 2008, a time when buying, let alone making a luxury set like this was seen as insane.... I don't know of many deluxe sets made for albums released when the album is first released, this one contains, not only the album itself, but (nearly) everything else from the release cycle of the album, outtakes, b-sides, remixes. If you are truly hardcore, you will need the Japanese Falling down CD & DVD combo single to essentially complete your "Dig Out Your Soul" collection. Presented like one might find an old 78RPM album, It really is a heavy, quality set and can still be had for much less than many 2008 first pressings of standard albums. If you are a fan of Oasis and don't have this, I recommend you do yourself a favor and get this.

It´s somehow mindblowing for me, to see how cheap this box-set still is here on Discogs? If u haven´t seen it in real, u cannot really understand how this box-set shows. I own a bunch of different box-set, but this one for me, is the most complete and luxurious box-set ever. When i buy a box-set, it is to get the extra, and also the luxury of it, and this box is top of the pop. The prices here are insanely cheep. Cheers from Denmark.

My brother had this on release and i loved it, finally got myself a copy all these years later n Mint sealed condition for £55 quid, they are out there and the box set is something else, the style is absolutely gorgeous, presentation is amazing, the hard book style cover art, everything, honestly its just different class.
The record itself is crisp, clean, each instrument sounds so full and clear, the tunes are some of the best Noel and co has written, definitely there most psychedelia, every song is a banger in its own right, and flows beautifully together. The drumming by Zak Starkey is that amazing combination of his old man Ringo and his god father/uncle Keith Moon (yes true story imagine being taught how to drum by those two and you can hear it!!!) I'd rate this album 5 out of 5 for the tunes alone, but the whole package of this box set truly sets it apart from anything else I've seen including all the recent Oasis remaster box sets, the recent Beatles Giles martin box sets, even the mid 2010s Led Zepp box sets.
If you can get one of these i'd say Bag it up!

Edited 8 months agoThis is a superb boxset of a very overlooked album. Oasis live in the shadow of their early albums, but this one ranks up there for me. It’s about as well produced as you’ll get for Oasis music and songs like I’m Outta Time, Falling Down, The Shock Of Lightning and Waiting For The Rapture are simply superb tunes by any measure.
The box is big, heavy and the contents are simply beautiful. It’s a hardback book style presentation with each record having its own page, but they are also in polylined sleeves. The CDs and DVD are on the inside of the back cover, there is also a hardback LP sized book containing lyrics and artwork.
The 45 RPM records are superbly pressed and sound immaculate. The bonus content across the additional LPs and bonus CD are well worth having if you love this band and album. Tracks like Lord Don’t Slow Me Down and The Boy With The Blues were not included on the standard version of the album and they are great tracks. This is typical of Oasis that some of their great songs weren’t even singles or album tracks, their hidden gems are just that - pure gems.
This is just a great presentation of their final (at time of writing album). I have a suspicion Noel’s ‘defiant rock album’ which he’s talked about making, might end up being an Oasis album - let’s hope so.

Edited 26 days agoSuperb box set with great artwork and music ! The vinyls sound fabulous on 45rpm - probably the best sounding oasis record I have ever heard - a fantastic set for oasis lovers

What a strange box set. Instead of a classic lid style box, this is more like a storybook, flip each page and there's a new record. The book with all the artwork is tucked away in the front, the CDs laid flat on the inside of the back. Such strange design when most box sets of today are literally a bottom with a lid on top.
Let's start with the fact that this thing is HEAVY, really well made, the records inside would be safe from anything you could imagine, even if you were unfortunate enough to drop this thing. The records, like the standard edition, are 45 RPM, which is a nice touch. If you're reading this review, you probably already like the music, so I don't need to say more about that piece - the b-sides are a nice touch, the remixes and "alternate" versions are....well, they are what they are. A missed opportunity that "These Swollen Hand Blues" isn't on here though since it was a b-side in this era. Oh well, just have to wait for the 20th anniversary of this one to get a different box set (just kidding, I very much doubt that will ever happen).
ANYWAYS, the artbook is the package highlight here, hardcover w/alternate album art, well put together, the art is great - whoever designed the art for this album nailed it, it really fits the loud psychedelia well. Even with the book, I wish there were more of it in the package! I wish there were glossy pictures or a poster for hanging or framing as well, but maybe I'm just used to box sets now where they stuff in literally everything imaginable (yes, I'm spoiled by something like Green Day's Dookie boxset, a classic bottom w/lid, sorry). My copy is a little rough around the edges, the glue where the records go have gone, some of the edges have wear....being in the States, I'll take what I can get though since this really doesn't make its way over here at a reasonable price that often. Call it transcontinental jealousy that our British friends can find this for 20 or 30 pounds.
My recommendation is that 1) if you like the album and want it on vinyl, 2) you can get this for a decent price (especially in the States) and 3) you have the room - again this thing is BIG, this is certainly worth a bit extra money, though I certainly wouldn't break the bank for it. -
Edited 2 years agoNowadays box sets like these only come when an album of a given artist / band is reissued for an anniversary, after huge success in of sale. Such a ridiculous big box set delivered on day one of the album release date is commercial suicide. Too confident in the band's success the Big Brother label must have been. Oasis had only months to go after the album launch.
I'm glad I was able to get this in my collection, but if reason had had any part in the decision process, this edition would have never seen the light of day for sure ! -
I’m sure I paid a fortune for this in 2008! Can’t believe it can be bought for €20 now!
I love the artwork though: -
