Notes
Direct Metal Mastering (DMM).
Remastered direct from the original master tapes and pressed on 140g vinyl discs.
Mastered at Masterdisk, NYC. Digital editing at Masterdisk, NYC. Production managed at Masterdisk, NYC.
Unlike the 2008 DMM repressing of this release, this version does not include the stickered outer plastic sleeve and is not numbered. The catalog number on the cover, inner sleeves, and labels is identical to the original One Little Indian release, as is the rest of the artwork and tracklistings.
The matrix / runouts on side A and B are listed as 'TPLP 359 A-DMM A-1' and 'TPLP 359 B-DMM B-1' respectively, however the 'A-' and 'B-' in front of DMM appear to have been scratched out on both sides.
The tracklisting for side C and D on the label and cover is incorrect. The track 'Isobel' is according to the cover / label on position C4 - but is actually on D1.
Incorrect tracklisting on cover / label:
C1 Venus As A Boy
C2 Hunter
C3 Hidden Place
C4 Isobel
D1 Possibly Maybe
D2 Play Dead
D3 It's In Our Hands

Edited one year agoOooooo I'd given up on finding the DMM of this and purchased what I thought was the Optimal Media pressing from turntable lab, but what they actually sent be was the DMM! Almost uncanny bell-like clarity of sound, works great for Bjork's voice and production style. Maybe others will get lucky the same way if they take a chance!

Sure master tapes but even that being said - most of the music was likely made using a mac lol and these days - just look at music on vinyl - there is a digital component in the transfer. Nothing is completely "direct transfer from original master tape" anymore.

Good however, and this is a big however - i have the cd as well from back in the day. Recently played both for comparison. This is a replica of sound. Worth it? I would have said yes prior to the comparison. Now, not so much.

This double 2x 33rpm LP is a KILLER on all fronts,pressing,mastering,track selection,sound quality & album/inner sleeve covers.
It`s pressed on good quality 140g black vinyl that is flat well centered & warp free,my copy was purchased on 12th Jan 2018 for £21.26. So even though it`s after the more lauded 2017 version I received this 2015 copy,I say more lauded as all the reviews rave about & the avg selling price is generally higher here.
In saying this I DO know someone who has the 2017 europe/u.k version & overall this just beats to my ears - he says that the 2015 sounds more "audiophile"(whatever that means) to him,so he prefers my copy!
Conclusion:
I would honestly state that you have to have a revealing system to pick out the differences between the 2015 & 2017 versions,so either is a DAMN Fine buy for the money - in fact they`re FANTASTIC highly recommended five stars.
Music:5.0
Mastering/pressing:5.0
Cover/s:4.0 Outer is of a decent quality printed inner.

Side D "Possibly Maybe" crackles like popcorn on my copy. The crackling starts maybe 1 minute into the song and lasts for at least 2 minutes. Anyone else experienced crackling on this song?

I bought a brand new copy on Amazon which claimed it was this DMM release, but what I actually received was this:
https://discogs.librosgratis.biz/Bj%C3%B6rk-Greatest-Hits/release/14460630
which is a brand new cut, done in 2017 by Optimal media. It is not DMM as far as I can tell, and the side splits match the cover listing, unlike the DMM cut. I wonder if all these new listings for "brand new" copies for sale are indeed the DMM cut or (more likely) the newer Optimal media cut release I linked above. It would be nice if someone could chime in with matrix codes from all these supposedly "brand new" DMM versions that have recently popped up for sale. -
Very impressed with the sound quality here. I bought this for "Play Dead" alone (since I have all the studio albums on vinyl) and it's the best version of the song I've heard! Though I forgot how great "It's In Our Hands" and the original mix of "All Is Full Of Love" is!

Edited 8 years agoTo clarify with others who own this pressing: Did your copy come with a code? I don't see evidence of such listed in the entry, yet my copy (bought from OLI recently) has a card included. Wondering if perhaps they did another run of this release since the 2015 pressing?

Vinyl confuses me like hell. From the start: a DMM 200g pressing was released in 2008 (and I'd have better luck spotting Bigfoot than that, or pay a trip to Paris with its price) and that's supposed to be mindblowingly amazing. Now it was pressed in 140g and DMM, and I thought 180g was the bare limit to get excellent sound quality. Will I get even a glimpse of what the 200g version is if I buy this?
